Avon moneymakers! Reduce the cost of your household toiletries

Options
In a bid to cut down on the costs of make-up and toiletries, I have started to be an AVON lady. I would recommend it to all ‘moneysavers’ because you get about 20% off the catalogue price. The only main issue is that they set a minimum order price which is about 80 pounds. I have found though that when my family all club together we can usually order that much as some of the offers are so good we buy in bulk.

In the next book (they come every 3 weeks!) there are some great free gift items ie: buy a lip balm get a free foundation and even better they’ve got a whole 99p section and a buy ONE chose TWO free section. There are always more expensive ones like get 2 for £10 but we generally just go for the drastically reduced.

If you can’t be bothered to be a representative, it is still worth going on-line to look at the offers. [ Avon.uk.com ] The problem with that is that you will always know that you are paying 20% over the top!! Also if you order on-line no one gets the commission (the missing 20% goes straight to the company).

I can send you a book or I think you can get free ones from the Avon web site.

  • Actually, it would be silly for me to send you a book, so please scrub that idea!

you also hace to factor in the £15 set up cost that they take regardless of your sales figures.

  • Yes but the same can be said of any party planning company. Reps always get a discount, but there are always set up costs. Brochures are not free either, Reps have to pay for them!

You have to place an £80 minimum order EVERY campaign before you get your discount, and I imagine sooner or later your family/friends will reduce their orders, and you may not earn anything. It is not as easy as you are making it out to be!

lol my girlfriend applied and got everything (they give it to you free at the start).
She only got a couple of orders for £20ish pounds in total and then she bought some things for herself with the discount.
She then cancelled because it wasn't worth the effort for the return. She didn't have to pay a penny..

Obviously if she would have carried on their would have been expenses.

You don't get a discount! You earn commission but only if your sales reach £78. They take out £7.50 from your first invoice and £7.50 from your second invoice.

If you use Topcashback you can get 10% off online with a possible further 10% depending on your level of earnings. Quidco also give 10% if you prefer them. Also if you look around there are a number of free postage codes and free gift codes (you cna only use one or the other in each order though), plus no minimum order.

It is actually classed as being a discount rather than commission - if it were commission we would be employed by avon, calling it a discount instead means they can't get in trouble legally - as I was told when I become a sales leader, never call it commission else you could get in trouble, only call it a discount or earnings!
