Default Lurker signing in to say hello

Hi, Thought I'd sign up to the forum to say I've submitted a guide to Simonseeks a couple of days ago and just got an email apologising for the delay in checking it out for suitability. Apparently they have had a large response since going live and are working through the backlog.. I'll let you know how things pan with my guide if anyone is interested, but I wasn't entirely happy with it myself, so it may well get rejected. Fingers firmly crossed. Anyone else signed up yet?

PS Hello from a newbie

Hi, is anyone else having problems with SimonSeeks? I submitted a guide last weekend, after lots of problems trying to save it - I didn't get a chance to add photos, and my guide has disappeared altogether now, although I did get an email to say it was submitted. I've tried to contact them several times through the site, but no matter how many times I try, entering the verification code each time (correctly!! I've checked!!), it comes back with a validation error. I can't even report it as a bug on the site, as that requires you to enter a code too. I tried emailing the address that sent me the confirmation of my guide, but no reply!!!!! Anyone else having problems or know another contact email? thanks!! x

Default Has anyone made money from this?

I'm thinking about signing up for this as i've done a fair bit of travelling but before i actually sit down and start writing reviews i was wondering what other peoples experiences had been? Have you made any money?

Also, how difficult is it to get your review accepted? I'm not an experienced writer but i think i could provide useful information and opinions.

Thanks.

I signed up in August and have submitted five stories (I am a professional journalist) the most recent of them on August 23. Not one has been looked at. Have emailed through the site twice and got no reply. Not impressed.

We have submitted 4 guides to the site and had 3 accepted so far (each time requiring adjustments/rewriting before being accepted). It seems to take 3-4 weeks for them even to look at it and then if you need to make any changes they look at it a bit quicker.

No one has made any money yet but they are expecting to allocate the first payments soon. Sounds like a very slow process as you don't get the money until the other companies pay Simonseeks. This link (if it works) explains when people will start to make money

Apologies to Lisa21 regarding the technical difficulties with uploading guides onto the Simonseeks site - we have contacted her directly to try to sort out the issue. Many apologies also to those who have had to wait longer than we would have liked for their guides to be edited - we have been inundated with guides since we launched, but we are now making rapid progress in dealing with the backlog. The site has only been live for three months, and it inevitably takes time for the commercial side to start to bring in revenue, but the first payments to writers will be announced later this month.

Nick Trend, Editorial Director, Simonseeks.

They claim to pay half the revenue that is generated from your guide - how much this is anyone's guess since the first payments haven't been allocated. You might not even earn anything if the hotels you recommend don't give rise to monetarised links. They claim the best guides could earnup to £200.
