Hello,
I work shifts and therefore have quite a lot of free time. I cannot commit to a regular part-time job but would like to use my time to earn some extra cash.
The internet just frustrates me as it is full of those get rich quick type schemes.
if anybody has any info of some flexible, spare time jobs that have worked for them or people they know, then please enlighten me!
thanks,
Dav

Thanks Vicky!
I have thought about doing some kind of catalogue distribution. The internet is full of ads asking for volunteers, but there is an initial start-up fee required. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth paying that fee or not...
..can anyone reccomend this as a way to make some extra pounds?? Is the start up fee worth it??
Cheers m'dears!

I did Kleeneze a few years ago when No1 TM was a baby. Thought - it's OK, put out the catalogues, collect them, process orders, deliver orders.
Not so easy.
1. Have to find area no-one covers
2. Deliver mags & keep record of where delivered.
3. Collect them on specified date
4. Go back and collect ones not left out first time.
5. If you really need the mags/can't afford to lose them, go back again (and again) until you have as many as you can get back.
6. Process order.
7. Receive order. Thing with Kleeneze - large stuff sometimes, so hope you have large room to sort it out.
8. Deliver items.
9. Re-deliver to those people not in first time.
10. Re-deliver etc etc.
11. Return items not wanted/not able to deliver.
12. Don't forget that if you are doing this as a decent source of income, the putting out/collecting of mags and delivering of orders all overlap.
It cost me about £120 5 years ago, took me 3 weeks of HARD slog to just recoup my money, then gave it up as a bad job. Some people obviously get on with it - just no-one I've ever known has stuck with it. At least with Avon, the items are small and I believe they give you your area.
ps I've tried network marketing too - that didn't work for me either ;D0 -
You could approach some pubs and restaurants for casual work.
Then you could work if you're free and they need you and get some nice tips too!
I know you said you don't like the internet, but try https://www.moneyrun.co.uk Do the just clicks daily - worth about 20p. When you reach a fiver you get a cheque. Not much but every little helps. And if you pop on line to vsiti this site for instance, then it only takes a few seconds, and you're not using extra cash on dial up connections.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
There are loads of ways to make some cash here at MSE. Have a look at the credit card forum for tips on "stoozing", the gambling forum for info on casinos (you can actually make money with little risk through bonuses), the bargain forums where you can pick up items like mobile phones cheap and then sell them on ebay (check out the ebay forum). With advice from MSE members, you're unlikely to be ripped off. Nobdy is going to give you the cash on a plate though - you're going to have to do some research and get organised.
You could also look at ways of cutting your expenditure which is as effective as increasing your income (and you don't pay tax on it). That's what this site is mainly all about - use all that free time profitably.0 -
Hi Dav
We joined Kleeneze over 9 years ago and now earn over £75,000 per year
Those who say kleeneze doesnt work , are usually lazy or refuse to follow a proven system
we have over 500 in our team , earning from £200 per month to over £6000 per month
Kleeneze works if you WORK
GET BACK TO ME IF YOU WANT MORE INFOHelp enough people get what they want and you will automatically get what you want0 -
Does anyone know of any reputable home work that involves something like typing or small scale craft work - e.g. painting small ornaments?
The problem I find with earning money on the Internet is that you often have to buy products to get cashback.D'Oh!0 -
I did betterware for about 6 months to get us out of debt .You dont pay anything, you put your name with the area agent (usually found on back of catalogue ) and hope there is a round free near you.
I did 2 rounds as we live in quite a rough area,So lots of availability.
You have an exclusive round, delivery is easy as you can do it whenever but collection has to be when people are in.Even if you ask them to leave the catalogues outside, they dont always. After school hours is the best time to collect. You need to visit the road about 4 times,1 to deliver,3 to collect.
Some people will order things and then not have the money which can be awkward so you have to be firm,no money,no goods,or you will end up buying the stuff for someone out of your commision and they will never pay you.
Commision used to be 20% of sales when I did it about 12 years ago.
I tried a home craft thing once where I had to make chess men with resin and someone bought the finished sets.It was a con though,He often sent back broken chess men deducting the price of them until I pointed out that they werent mine as mine had different filling in and different felt on the bottom.I did eventually get my money but wrote it off to experience.
You shoudnt have to pay anything to do homework, they pay you.0 -
Thanks everybody for your suggestions!
Culpepper - one minute I think betterware is for me, and then I hear horror stories of how it completely takes over your life, and gives you little money for a lot of work. It seems that you had a good experience, I've given my number to them so I'm hoping for a call this week!
Tickelmouse - That is exactly why I don't want to pay £75 to koin Kleeneze: I just can't be sure if this type of work is for me! At least Betterware has no initial outlay.
Scuzz - Every little does help, I might look into that. If I am happy to click and not get paid, I may as well get 20p for a few seconds "work" I also thought about doing the free paper, perhaps as an area distributor.
johnllew - I am intrigued by stoozing, have no idea what it is but am going to find out as soon as I have finished this reply!
Thank you all again. Looking forward to hearing any more great ideas

if you are at all crafty or arty - dont buy into any schemes, instead make your own things (simple hand made cards I think look fab) and sell them
try to think of places that people would buy them eg
churches, sunday markets, garden centres, charity shops (with some profit being given as a donation too)
I don't do this, but think I may have just talked myself into having a go!!!
Hope that helps
WM
(happy christmas - 30 minutes to go! )Smile - life's good !0
