Postal, Supermarket and Magazine Competitions (merged)

Hi Folks

Would any MSE compers be interested in posting comps found in magazines?

On any day WH Smith have dozens of magazines showing competitions and many of those advertised are just postal entries and do not require you to buy the magazine for an entry form!

Many “Borders” book shops allow you to read magazines whilst having coffee therefore no need to buy the mag unless the comp requires an entry form.

Might also be helpful if members could also post what current magazines have what comp in them and so forth as members may wish to buy them for the comp.

It’s just a thought but if those interested posted one a week it would give us hundreds of comps over a short period and spread aour winning chances with a good selection of postal and entry form comps.

Internet comps are fine as they are free but the chances of winning are also slim.

Ideas welcome!

Personally, I think the line between an internet and 'magazine' competition is increasingly thin.

Indeed, in 'my' experience, magazine competitions can be entered on-line anyway.

'I' read/buy a lot of computer magazines (many on 3 for £1 deals) and find that I can enter all the magazine competitions on their web page.

Again personally, 'I' wouldn't be interested in hearing of more internet/magazine competitions. There are probably hundreds of them at any one time, and the forum could easily get bogged down in them.

I find it hard enough to keep up-to-date with all the postings as they are (and yes, I do read all the message headers that are posted, and read the ones that interest me, in detail.)

    Cheers,
    Don

I think it's a great idea. I'm new to comping and have entered loads of online ones and a fair few postcard ones. The 2 comps I have one have been online though.

Unfortunately there's not a Borders or a suitable place to sneakily jot down magazine entries near me, and I don't buy any mags, so I don't come across the comps that often.

If anyone's got any mag comps that they are willing to share and spend time jotting down, then you will have my thanks - a priceless gift!

If anyone else is interested in posting magazine comp addresses please fell free to participate but please don’t clog the thread up with non comp chatter!

It may also be helpful to people entering the comping arena to hear from any MSE Compers who are interested in posting which magazine are currently running comps.

Many of the magazine competitions require you to purchase the magazine to get the EF (entry form) and therefore this would reduce the amount of people entering and strengthen your winning chances! If you can afford the magazines go for it!

I have been comping for ten years and have won many thousands of prizes ranging from fluffy toys to luxury holidays and virtually all of my wins have been from postal entries and not from the Net!

I do enter many Net comps in the hope that I will win but alas they have all passed me by!

If you are just going to rely just on Net comps you are reducing your chances of winning considerable even though they are freeish to enter.

There are thousand of comps out there waiting to be won and someone has to win them although smart people win more!

Most supermarkets (Tesco, Waitrose, Morrison’s, etc) run comps all the time and you can pick up the EF whilst shopping! Tie-breaker comps are the best as the normally all get read and give you the highest chance of winning!

Last but not least you can join a good comping club and get comps not normally posted to a large audience therefore reducing the odds!

    Hope this helps someone!

I would love it if someone posted the competitions they have in the Big Issue Magazine. I try to buy it every week but you can't always get it here. I've had a few successes from that magazine so it's really annoying when I can't get it.

Well done great idea to post Magazine Competitions!

Saves having to buy the magazine and would be a great idea for people to post competitions in the magazine that require an Entry Form also. That way we can make our own minds up if we want to spend the money and enter!

I have done thousands and thousands of Internet Competitions over the years and not even come near to winning!

Perhaps MSE user on this page might also like to post where there are any Supermarket entry forms available as I like the idea of entering those tie-breakers!

Here’s my contribution and hopefully the first of many!

Win a trip to South Africa!
This is for two people for seven nights with flights from London etc.
