For anyone who cares - an update on Merlin

Was taken to hospital late yesterday afternoon, after suffering a TIA (Transient Ischaemic Attack aka mini-stroke for anyone here doesn't know about such things). This is now the third. It has been building for a few weeks now. And like lightning strikes when things have built up to the level needed to trigger one.

I am also aware of what else has been going on here lately in that direction but also aware that he gave an awful lot of himself to support a lot of people here when they needed it. And that as he accepted others for their 'differences' and their 'rants' but also recognized those for the pressure people are under.

It's quite up to anyone here if they choose to continue to attack him when in ill health but also remember that when you needed help he was there doing it for you. Everyone falls on hard times in life, and not everyone is treated fairly throughout them. Merlin has been treated pretty harshly, severely in life and for no real good reason. It's a pity those who drove him into this health situation right now didn't have the same sincerity to admit to what they did to him two years ago. And how it has affected him so severely, it has now endangered his health. What he sacrificed for those people, and his payback was all this.

Incidentally, as I am aware of what kind of response this thread will now illicit so it's aimed at the more grown up people who DO treat people fairly - and not those who go behind people's backs, slinging manure like it's fashionable - and also appreciate that when people are under a lot of stress, from goading, and a shed load of pressure that sometimes they overreact. Merlin lives by himself BTW, and has no one - no family living with him and has coped terrifically well considering all the stuff that has come his way in the last 4 years.

This is all I wanted to say. And if you choose to attack this thread after this message has been relayed then ... that is entirely up to yourselves.

But also appreciate that when someone has given a lot of themselves to a group of people quite willingly, when they are also in their most severest of hours that a little bit of compassion is sometimes needed. Just the same as any of you would expect in return.

For those who don't know this here, but he's done a lot of good for people throughout his life, never expected anything back. Except fairness.

Like I said, if you want to attack this thread now because of what some of you perceive has been going on - the labelling etc etc, the finger pointing - and not considering a third option, not just leaping to the most appropriate that fits because life isn't like that and I would imagine for some here they already know this.

And as a close family member of his, I will only take note of people who have something constructive to say, not destructive. I have only now intervened on that basis to protect him, exactly like anyone else here would their own family.

He was one of the good guy's who unfortunately, things have taken a toll on. I cannot stop any of you from seeing him for the opposite because of recent posts here but have the good grace to stop laying into someone who is really at a very low ebb. Same as you'd expect. Just think a little.
On a scale of 0-10 how fairly do you treat people ...

Whilst I, and others, are obviously concerned when anybody is taken ill, especially hospitalised, I can not help but feel a certain inference from your post that this board may have had something to do with that poster's current situation.:confused:

Perhaps you might wish to elaborate.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I think people DO care and I wish him well.
From the general tone of your post it seems that you are implying that it is the people who post on the boards fault.
Wish him well but do not blame us.

I agree with above and also if you have read some of his recent posts he may also have issues with his Mental Health, I do hope he gets all he help he needs and wish him well. I hope for his own sanity he stays away from these boards when he recovers from his stroke. As a family member I hope you take care of him and get him the help he needs with his health and debts.

Unfortunate that both you and your brother seem to be in a similar state financially, and asking alot of similar questions. Would like to think you could consult each other before having to post on here.

I wish Merlin a speedy recovery though.

At this moment I feel your thread is in a nice way trying to make us feel guilty for how Merlin is.
If you feel the need to protect him why post this?
I hope Merlin has your support and you get him the help he clearly is in need of

If you are Merlins brother it seems a family thing that you would come on this forum and post a thread merely to cast blame on others and bemoan your lot- as an obviously caring brother you might consider instead why you did not save Merlin from himself in the real world instead of asking us to support him with his history of quite vindicative attacks on others, (along with some helpful and kind posts- I concur). Are you the 'very close relative' that Merlin stated yesterday had been posting provacotive posts in his name- and left him to deal withn the fallout? Or is that yet another 'real' person that could have been looking out for him in the real world?

I for one, hope Merlin gets the help he has so desparately needed for a while, for everyones sakes

I am sure everyone wishes Merlin well, but you obviously have not read some of his abusive posts have you?
A lot of people tried very hard to help him and in turn he was rude and agressive
I will only take note of people who have something constructive to say, not destructive
I take it by the above comment, you mean something nice to say.
If you do mean constructive, I hope he can get the mental health care he needs.
We wish him a speedy recovery.

I have only came across Merlin recently so have not seen any of his so called 'nasty' posts. I have seen that the poor man was severely depressed and almost suicidal. You as a brother should have seen that a long time ago surely and should not trying to asuage your guilt (if you feel it) by coming on here and snidlley blaming other people. Probably 99.9% of people on here wishes Merlin well and hopefully while he is in hospital he may get the mental health help he needs also. He really does not need you on here alienating the friends he has made on here.
    Give him my good wishes.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Well I have just read your other postings....
Really put all through the guilt trip are you not
    Or should I say Merlin!
  • Yet again his posting is no longer!
