Hi all
Just wanted to post to say thanks for all the great advice I've gotten from here since I started posting to some of my quite frankly ridiculous questions! Have been working particularly on our shopping habits and yesterday and today have made a huge family-size lasagne and several portions of veggie and lentil soup which has all been frozen for future use, using up oddments from the cupboards and a bargain bag of root veg from weekly shop which saved us a fortune as we'd normally buy it individually and half of which we would have probably thrown away anyway after forgetting about it.
Next on the list is using up the stuff in the freezer - have plans for a portion of gooseberries and a portion of blackcurrants given to me by the parents - was thinking some kind of crumble for the gooseberries but not sure about the blackcurrants, but can't wait coz I love them!
Another thing I want to do is persuade boyfy to take to work homemade stuff. He tends to want to get frozen meals which are on special in the supermarket but it would save money to take, say, a portion of homemade soup, or something similar. He likes the convenience of these ready meals but I HATE ready meals with a passion - being a vegan I have gotten used to making my own stuff anyway so I don't mind making him stuff, I just need to persuade him!
So thanks all for the great start and look forward to posting more!

Get yourself some suitable containers that he can take some lasagne or something to work in. If you start cooking double quantities and freezing one lot in "portions" he can then take this to work. Saves money and is more nutritious. If you cook double, you save on fuel and time also. This becomes a habit after a while and you should have a collection of suitable meals in the freezer for him(as he likes readymeals). When the warmer weather eventualy arrives you can space these out a bit with cold lunches.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0
