Official MoneySavingExpert.com Forum Insert:

There are plenty of energysaving lightbulbs deals around at the moment:

  • Morrisons, 6 bulbs for 48p. Until 7 June, the supermarket's selling 6 own-brand bulbs for 48p, via a buy one get two free offer on packs of two. Both screw and bayonet cap bulbs are available, in 7 watt, 11 watt and 20 watt ratings, in stores nationwide.
  • Somerfield, 5 bulbs for 40p. 11 watt energy bulbs, usually £1.99 each.

If you've spotted a better deal do please add it below.

Thanks to ianthefabricman for posting the Somerfield offer!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was in Argos earlier and they had a big stand with Phillips energy saving bulbs at normal price £1 each or 5 for £1. I have no idea of the wattage as I was in a hurry but plan on going and picking some up tomorrow if they still have them. Cant find the deal online.

Netto currently have energy saver bulbs for 10p - didn't look at the wattage but the price caught my eye.

Thanks Jonni2bad as according to the Netto website, these are this Thursday's offer, 14th May, so if they're in already I'll have to get there quick.

Website shows equivalent to 60w and 75w bayonet bulbs, so not sure if they are offering other wattages or fittings.

There is a limit of 20 per customer.
  • Poundland are looking ever so much more expensive then.

    5 for 50p

I've been looking for these for some time and the best I've found is in Aldi. But they're £1.49 each - 8 watt.

They're the twisty sort - not the straight ones.

I always rate the IKEA R50 E14 reflector bulb Link- ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40060624. Bit slow on start up, but gives a light about a 30-35W bulb- it is rated 7W. Only £1.99 per bulb too, I believe the same bulb is £7.98 in B&Q- Link- diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=r50+bulb&x=0&y=0:eek:

My local B&Q has 5 for 39p on a pack of 3x11W (60W equivelent) + 2x8W (=40W) Phillips Genie bayonet cap at the mo. These look like the same packs that British Gas was giving away free some time in the last year. They are quality bulbs but not the brightest - a pity they didn't include the 100W equivalents.
