Help needed for jeans that bleed!

I am desperate for some advise on how to stop my husbands brand new black jeans from spreading their dye everywhere!! Just looking at them makes them bleed, let alone when he sits down in "his" chair, the pale yellow one in front of the box, the one surrounded by the remote controls. I am CERTAIN that it will involve vinegar just not sure how and how much!
ta ever so :D

Wash, wash and wash again is my advice.

Would using salt in some way help stop it? I seem to recall you use salt to set dye.

Keep washing them until no dye comes out and use loads of salt in the wash.

Acetic acid ( commercial vinegar ) is used in Dyehouses to fix dyes.

A good soak in a hot , strong vinegar - water solution should cure it, then hot wash and rinse as normal .

Also turn the jeans inside out to wash them. That way the wear from the drum won't make them go pale so quick and they should leach less dye.

    Thanks everybody.
I decided to go with what I call "The fish'n'chip" shop approach, I soaked them in a mixture of salt and vinegar  they are a little better than they were but OH is just NOT going to be able to sit in his chair with them on, he can sit on the floor at my feet while I sit in it :D
