Saw this mentioned on another site seems like a good idea, because you get your own personal number to dial, and not a dial through one,so you dont pay for call if you get engaged.
Go to
http://cheapercallrate.com/LowPricePhoneCalls
Although number is FREE you do course have to pay for call.

Nice one i have 2 friends abroad, one in Spain, the other in USA, and i call them a lot through a dial through number on my O2 mobile. Now i can dial them direct using these peoples 0844 numbers, and its included in my cross-network minuteson O2 ,and i can dial straight through to them.

Thanks.0 -
I've just tried to register and when I click submit nothing happens. Not sure why, but I've tried numerous times and nothing happens. I've filled in all of the boxes and nada, grrrrrr!!!!!!0

It's just like JustDial, isn't it? But you get unique numbers for each of your friends overseas instead of dialing to a main number and redial your friends number in JustDial.0

Its not really like Just Dial because they use 0870 numbers at peak rate which costs 8p a minute. These people offer you 0844 numbers to same Intl destinations for 2p a minute at all times.
If you call a Just Dial or similar you start paying for call when you hear the recorded message. On this service you dont pay until you get through.
They also allow you to allocate 0844/0871 numbers to UK Numbers which give you cheaper peak rate calls for people calling them.Handy if you dont want to hand out your real number.Lol.
A couple of my mates just regd working ok.0 -
But if you're calling off a o2 phone then 0870/0844 comes out of your free time allowance anyway and saves the hassle of signing up for anything

With most cheap calls providers you dial an 0844/0870 type Gateway number, before your International number.
You have to enter a long string of numbers, but you do get the call at a fraction of the normal cost. But you start paying for the call (using up your minutes on O2) as soon as you hit the gateway announcement.Even if the number is unobtainable/engaged etc, a minimum call charge applies when you dont get through.
This service allows me to dial a shorter number like 0844 xxx xxxx?
rather than a long string of numbers like say: 0844 xxx xxxx 00 1 212 555 XXXX # and if the number is engaged i dont pay!!!!
It not only saves me money, but time.My boss is considering using it for calling our overseas offices.
It took me a couple of minutes to sign up.

Do I understand this correctly??
dialing abroad from a UK landline: this will save me entering a few digits and paying 2p if the line is engaged.
https://www.cheapercallrate.com charges me 10p a minute to call a Brazilian mobile rather than 2p a minute as other cheap providers do (per "call checker"), I still loose out seriously! (e.g 20 minute call will cost £2.00 instead of 40p for example!). Landline they charge 6p instead of 1p with the cheapest provider.
dialing from a mobile, you could save the additional cost of calling a 0844 number???? I don't understand....0 -
Hi Brigitte min call from a BT landline is 5p.
These people only work out cheaper for certain destinations,as you point out Brazil is not one of them.
I only use them to ring USA and Spain where they are competive on a landline at 2p a minute using 0844 numbers i got from them .
However i use my O2 mobile to ring the 0844 numbers out of my inclusive minutes, its no cheaper then dialling another dial through 0844 number where you have to dial destination number in full , but it saves me time and exclusive minutes as i am direct to person i want to reach.0 -
Thanks to the poster of this thread as well as the others that have recommened other sites. I was unable join https://www.cheapercallrate.com, but think it is my browser, however I tried telestunt (a similar deal) lastnight and it was brilliant. I called BT today and my 36 min phone call to a USA mobile cost 68p. Why didn't I know about this sooner?
Thanks again
