I'd also like to say how happy I am to have found this forum, all the tips are so useful and fit into my life so well, I'm slowly reading through past pages and recipes and can't wait for Martin's book
thanks to the 3 people who've sent me welcoming private messages today
they are appreciated0 -
Since finding this thread I've bought a slow cooker, and used it almost every day for something - freezer is now full of sauces and meals for when nobody can be bothered to cook. :j
At the weekend I used some of the Boots points I'd accumulated to purchase a bread maker (not the one I wanted, but meant that I didn't have to pay "cash" for one!), it is so easy that the children can all make stuff in it - we've had endless types of bread and cakes (more for the freezer!), and it's fantastic that I can go to work and leave the children to sort out bread for toast in the morning (they've worked out how to use the timer!) - oh, dh is at home looking after them whilst I'm out, they aren't left all alone!
Have also begun meal planning and making a proper shopping list - it's amazing how much less I have spent, and how much more food and meals seem to be available to us! I've also taken to lurking in Aldi and Lidl to compare prices to the usual Tesco/Sainsbury/Asda ones!
We've always eaten a pretty healthy diet, but now with just a bit more planning we are eating even better, the food is ready when we need it and it is definitely costing less.
So a BIG THANK YOU to all OS bods out there! :T :T :TGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
