Pilates class??

I was thinking of trying out pilates as i heard its good for muscles and posture. I already do martial arts and some general fitness for past few weeks, so thought it would help my body. Although gotta confess dont know a lot about it..but willing to give anything a try.

How does one choose a good instructor? as it seems to learn this skill one has to go on an pilates workshop.

Instructor 1 i met charges about £25 for 5 45mins lessons. But will allow me to try it out for £5 for 1 session. She charges £30 .hr for 1-2-1 and has own studio and can teach other stuff e.g. yoga.

instructor 2...teaches only pilates and charges about the same per session..and charges only £25 for a 1-2-1 1hr session. She has no starters workshops on for 2mths.

I would not mind as a treat a personal coach..but how does one choose a good instructor? Not met them but spoke to them both on the phone who seem very keen and professional.

If you've never tried Pilates before, why not do attend a few pay as you go classes 1st? This is much cheaper than 1-2-1 instruction and if you decide it's for you, go for that later.

I started nearly 3 years ago and have noticed that it seems to take at least a month or two before people are convinced it's something they want to pursue. As long as the instructor is qualified (which they should be at reputable leisure centres or health clubs), you can learn the basics from them - then pay more for an expert if you want.

An alternative cheap option might be to get a 2nd hand DVD or video - but you can't ask questions of them (at least, not if you want an answer!).
