Hi everyone
Until recently, I didnt know you could freeze mushrooms but having read it on here, I was able to take advantage of heaps of mega-reduced ones at the supermarket recently.
I also posted this week about a mound of red/green peppers and tomatoes lurking in the fridge and found I can slice and freeze all those, too! Thank you : )
Anyway, I looked at the Mega thread-thingy for freezing and felt a bit overwhelmed and wondered if people could share info on which fruit and veg can be frozen (and how to prepare for freezing) so more of us can take advantage of those 'end of day' supermarket reductions...
Here's hoping!

I noticed in the web pages above with freezing fruit & veg - is the food just put in there as is. I mean I have frozen apples before - but I always stew them first & then freeze them to make crumbles etc. What would the apples be like frozen in there normal state. The same with the other fruit & veg. Is it ok to freeze it like this? I have blanched some veggies before to freeze them but it doesn't really say you need to do this.
Edited; you were to quick for me Queenie. Thanks for the great info.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -

you can get a great books from the library called The basis basics home freezing handbook by carol bowen or somethng similar which has all the info on freezing virtually everything. I've just borrowed the book and now know how to freeze fruit and pastry foods so I can take advantage of supermarket specials.:jThe curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0
