I wanna Blender

I hate fruit, i really do, i dont like eating oranges, though i love orange flavour, dont like apples but dont mind apple flavours, same for bananas, tomatoes etc.

so, been seeing these smoothie makers and had been thinking about one to go with the "new" me when a mate said he was in the same boat and got a blender, same as a smoothie maker but no stupid piddly tap to clean :-)

he regularly makes fruit smoothies using that, so that'd be perfect for me and the missus loves making home made soup so itll kill two birds with the one stone :-)

But, I dont want to spend a fortune on some brand name i just want a decent one thatll do the job. Surely £15 would cover it?

  • They still have some of these in Tesco (the Barrow one had some in a couple of days ago)

    Morphy Richards 'Mixology'

They are £12.97 (Argos had them for £59.99 before Christmas!). It is marketed as a cocktail blender (it comes with a cocktail book and shaker) but I use it as an ordinary blender - it works really well. It has a strong steel goblet, but this measn you can't see inside without taking off the lid.

Tesco also have their own make for £14.97 - never used one though.
  • Just got a Moulinex smoothie maker from Tesco Jersey for £19 - seen it in other places for £40.
Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books
  • I've just bought a cheap blender from Argos. £9.99 if I remember correctly.

Basic but seems fine. I have been using it to make smoothies too.

Insurance to protect it for 3 years £1.49 :p

So I thought it was worth a try. If it breaks I'll just get a new one under the insurance cover. ;)

Have done this before in Argos and am now on my 3rd kettle courtesy of their insurance cover!

Worth thinking about for cheap appliances that you're not sure whether you're going to use or not. Why pay £50 for a blender? Can't work it out myself!
  • We've just bought a "Kenwood Smoothie Juice Bar" from Sainsburys for £24.99, supposedley reduced from £60. This machine is currently on offer in Argos at £39.99 reduced from £49.99 (cat no. 422/5908). The unit has a smoothie maker, citrus juicer & centrifugal juicer & includes a basic recepie book. At £24.99 we are well pleased.
  • I had a Kenwood Smoothie maker but found it too big and iddnt use it much

I replaced it with a 'Magic Bullet' from ebay which cost me about £20. I love it. Its great for smoothies and a stack of other things, Id recommend it if you need something for more than just smoothies
  • been and got the £14.97 one from tesco tonight, only had to put 47p to it as i used 14 quid of vouchers :-)
