Cheaper vitamins?

Hi there,
Due to awful joints I am researching into buying some vitamins for my joints. With them being quite bad I was looking at the best I could buy and which suit me. So far I've come up with http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/seven-seas-jointcare-max-3030_1_6662.html Seven Seas Jointcare Max.
They are quite pricey for a months supply so was wondering if there's a cheaper unbranded alternative that would do exactly the same job.
This isnt my field of expertise, I hope its yours
Thanks very much!

Jointcare max contains
Cod Liver Oil Capsule:
Cod Liver Oil (31.8%), Capsule Shell: (Gelatin, Glycerol, Colours; Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide Paste (Iron Oxide, Hydroxypropylmethylcelluiose)), Fish Oil Concentrate (29.1%) (Triomega®), Hydrolysed Collagen1, Thickener: Silicon Dioxide, Vitamin E. 1 - From Fish.
Glucosamine Tablet:
Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCI2, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Maltodextrin, Tablet Coat (Colour: Titanium Dioxide, Hydrpxypropylmethyl Cellulose, Polydextrose), Stearic Acid, Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate. 2 - From Shellfish.
Works out about 57p daily for a cod liver oil and glucosamine sulphate tablet.
Bit of a rip off.
Simply Supplements do Glucosamine for £14.99 360= 4.1p daily
and triple strength omega 3 for 4p daily
Total cost 8p daily for a higher omega 3 and higher Glucosamine sulphate content.
Cod liver oil although it contains omega 3 also generally has too much Vitamin A but some Vitamin D. But an effective amount of Vitamin D3 for UK ADULT with joint pain would be 6000iu if male 5000iu female or if you are overweight work on 1000iu for each 30lb you weigh so if you are say 16 stone 1lbs that would be
210lbs 7 X 1000=7000iu
+ 15lbs 5 x 100 = 500 = 7500iu/daily
5000iu vitamin D3 oil based gel capsule have to come from the USA I use these From Iherb I buy 3 pots 360 capsules at a time, use a discount code (see the referrers board here ) and including P&P they work out at around 5p daily.
So for 15p daily you save a lot of money and get far far better value.
Omega 3, glucosamine and Vitamin D3 are all ANTI INFLAMMATORY agents and so will reduce pain levels.
You may also consider making sure you eat oily fish, herring sardines mackeral 3 times a week. You would also do well to make your own beef stock from marrow bones (good source of calcium/magnesium and glucosamine and free from the butcher or almost) The Vitamin d3 is IMO the one you are most likely to be seriously deficient in and correcting D3 insufficiency will have the most impact on your pain levels. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

You will not and cannot get effective strength D3 from Healthy direct 360 tablets our price£7.99 these are a waste of money. They cost 2.2p each but you would need to take at least 12 of these daily. to be effective.chrislee765 wrote: »Wow thanks for such an informative post

Each 100iu/daily of D3 raises status 1ng or2.5nmol/l
so 1000iu raises 10ng 25nmol/l
4000iu (TEN of these) raises 40ng or 100nmol/l
Average adult vitamin d status in UK is 35nmol/l
Least Pain and least chronic illness requires above 150nmol/
150 -35=115
To raise your status to the level where your muscle will work strongest, your Vit d hormone will function at maximum power and you will feel least pain requires an extra 5000iu daily. Because the absorption rate is slower the higher you get this is the minimum and you may need. Most men need a bit more particularly if overweight.
That is why I suggest Iherb Now foods 5000iu If you bu 3 pots use a $5 discount code from the referrals board that will bring order value under tax threshold and so you pay around £18 for a years supply about 5p daily. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
