just watched an excellent, and scary, DVD called 'Sicko' - the latest film by Michael Moore (of faherenheit 9/11).
tragic stories of how even insured Americans ending up losing absolutely everything, due to ill health, even ones who got ill because they were volunteer rescuers in 9/11. Heartily recommend watching it (i got my copy on the lovefilm free trial so very moneysaving!!). It shows how the US system is run for profit so insurance companies try all sorts of things to refuse people care or make them pay 'deductibles' or impossibly high premiums. One woman who needed care ended up virtually bankrupt because she hadn't declared a 'yeast infection' from years ago!!!
Made me realise how lucky we are, and hope our system doesn't go the same way! (or i'll have to move to France....)
