Pension question

I payed into a pension when I was 18, until I was 24, so for five years and there is apparently 1000 pounds sitting in the pot. I haven't paid into this for years and was wondering what my options were. It was an old Abbey National pension, which I think has now been taken over by Phoenix.

Can I transfer funds/ withdraw funds to invest elsewhere? Help and guidance please.

Yes. You are free to pick from the range of investments the current pension offers or transfer it to another pension and utilise the invesmtent options of that one. You cannot withdraw the money though.
