BR and Cars

Options
When OR called last week to book telephone appt she took details of the car advised that Parkers guide said £2160 but put £2,000 on form as someone drove into car and drove off have not been able to afford to put this right, she said she thought it would be exempt due to work etc do all OR's use Parkers Guide, with the way cars are selling its probably unlikey they would get much more than £2,000 for this so really hoping that we can hang onto car

  • Yep parkers is usually most OR's choice of valuation

perhaps we can keep this then as new figures today state £2040 in poor and £2500 in good, it needs a new exhaust, a new tyre and work replace bumper, headlight and painwork to work to blend this all in even though its only a slight scuff to look at its took everything out of alignment, so do you think we done the right thing putting this down as fair condition

I have a van and it was the same thing and about the same amount. Like you say i expect the slow cars sales will help as well and also you need it for work.

So they let me keep my van but took my old car that had just failed the MOT big style.

Is this because they said you need the van for work so you cann't have both, I really do hope that they let me keep the car, need this for work and my OH to get to hosiptal appt and hospital for his injections when he needs them which lately its been every other week

It's highly unlikely Queen that the OR would seize your car if you need it for work as it would not be in the OR's interest to do so.

  • Most cases of late on here have got to keep the car if required for work and it would really need to be worth £2500 for the OR to be able to make anything out of selling it and then allowing you a replacement, so i cant see why they would take it at that price.

But as always there are no guarentees, but you know that.

You have a perfect case for exemption, and a low enough value to make it not worth the paperwork, thats the best reasurance i can give

I would say though if it has accident damage that will put it in the poor condition catagory by your discription of that damage until it was repaired
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
