I thought it was a good way to spread some Christmas cheer
They all looked really tasty, so I thought I'd eat just one
And a little while later, I noticed there were none.
So here's my Christmas greeting,
And a cookie cutter too,
Now you can make your own cookies,

Add all ingredients in small bowl. Mix well.
Decorate as wanted.
• Buy two AA batteries, place them in a beautifully decorated box with a note saying "Gift not included"
• A mug with a small whisk some chocolate sachets and a bar of chocolate wrapped in cellophane
• Handmade Bath Salts

Bath salts are one of the easiest (albeit, smelliest) things to make. Make sure you do this in a well-ventilated area. You'll need the following:
Epsom salts
Baking soda
Essential oils
Food colour
Rubber gloves
The base mixture for bath salts is equal parts Epsom salts and baking soda. To a cup of base mixture you first add your colouring (that is, if you want colours) a few drops at a time, blending it with your hands (making the gloves a moral imperative) until the colour is uniform. Then do the same with the essential oils. The total amount of scent needed will vary based on the oils used, as some are more potent than others. You can try your hand at blending the oils for different scents, which is often fun and sometimes nose deadening. A couple of good combinations are patchouli/sandalwood/vanilla, rosemary/peppermint (easy on this one unless you don't particularly like that friend). You can also buy already blended scents. Aura Cacia has some wonderful blends (Tranquillity is excellent) and the Body Shop sells perfume oils in their various blends.
• You can also make 'bath bombs', you know, those fizzy bathtub Alka Seltzer type balls. All you do is add citric acid to the bath salt base (or straight baking soda) at 4 parts base to 1 part citric acid. Then after you have finished the above simply use an unscented base oil (bath or massage blends are fine as long as they are unscented) and add a few drops at a time until the stuff will hold a shape. You can mould it with your hands or stuff it into oiled moulds. Make each 'bomb' using about 1/4 cup of the stuff. Then just let them dry for a week or so. Make sure you take them out of the mould to dry. Otherwise be prepared to drop it mould and all into the tub later...
• Another quick and easy gift though is for people who abuse their hands a lot at work or whatever. You can make a hand softener using sea salt, base oil and essential oils. Just add the oil to the salt a bit at a time until it turns into a sort of granular mess that is not at all 'liquid' then add a few drops of essential oil. To use, they just rub this stuff into their hands and rinse off.
• COLORFUL HOMEMADE SOAPS
A great idea as a gift for those kids who hate soap. Maybe the shapes and colours will help to change their minds & make cool homemade Christmas gifts!
NEEDS
Soap moulds
Spray unflavoured vegetable oil
Glycerine soap clear, unscented
Chopping block & knife
Measuring cup
Microwave oven
Soap colouring
Toothpicks
DIRECTIONS Lightly spray mould with veggie oil, spraying about 6" away from mould. Cut glycerine into small cubes about 1" square. Place cubes in microwavable cup and heat in microwave oven till melted, about 1 minute. Pour melted glycerine into the mould being careful of the heat. Swirl one drop of soap colouring in the centre of mould with a toothpick for marbleised effect. Let soap cool 30 minutes. Turn onto waxed paper to release soap.
Wrap and/or decorate
• Lost your Marbles ?

Place 1 marble in a small plastic bag just a little bigger than a business card.
Type the poem below on a piece of card the size of a business card, and decorate.

Poem:

Sometimes it seems we lose our way and life becomes so blue.
You think you've lost your "marbles" and others suspect it's true.
But in spite of all the odds my friend,
life can be wonderful too.
Just remember, that no matter what,
I'm always here for you.
So when you think you've lost them all;
pull out my gift to you.

(You could use their little decorated pine cone idea or do something else tea-related... cup of tea and teabag or decorated tin of teabags, etc...) Thanks to Voodoo Vixen ~ http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/attachment.php?attachmentid=78339http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1602

• CHOCOLATE SPOONS
Get some good quality plastic spoons to start with... Try using gold or silver ones, clear is OK too. Also find some good quality chocolate and different tracts/liquors to make the spoons different flavours/colours. There is no end to the flavours you can come up with. Melt chocolate till it is liquid; watch out that it doesn't scorch . . . you can do this in the microwave. Add extract or liquor of choice (almond extract, Frangelica, peppermint, anise, Kalhua etc.). Then just dip the spoon into the chocolate . . . and lay the spoons with their handles over the edge of a wax paper lined cookie sheet till set. You can drizzle white chocolate in a design over dark or milk chocolate . . . or dip 1/2 of spoon in dark and 1/2 in while best flavours mocha, mint, plain, and raspberry. Don't just dip lightly -- you want a nice puddle in the spoon part and part way up the handle.

I wrap these in clear plastic bags tied with raffia and a tag stating the flavour. These are marvellous with coffee or cocoa and make enough so each family member gets 2 spoons each. They will clamour for more!!! Other things you can dip into chocolate and put in gift baskets:

* Salted Pringles (only half),
* Chocolate chip cookies (only half)

• We do small paper bags of snowman poop, which is white maltesers... and small paper bags of reindeer poop, which is chocolate covered raisins or almonds. Always goes down well as a table favour.
• Ma couldn't afford cake and crackers at Christmas so she got enough little gifts for the people present (a bar of choc, stuff like that) wrapped the little gifts and tied each with a long length of ribbon. The gifts were placed in a cake or sweetie tin that she'd decorated with a paper frill that goes round a cake, the 'tails' of the ribbon were left to hang outside the tin and the top was a Christmassy paper napkin so the whole thing resembled a Christmas cake. Everybody grabbed a length of ribbon and on the count of 3 pulled so the gifts exploded out. Sounds tame but we kids loved it.
• http://genealogy.about.com/cs/holidays/p/ornament.htm gives instructions on how to do photo transfer onto a plain bauble to make it an "heirloom Christmas ornament" ... I don't know if "Magic Bubble" is necessarily required... any of the gel medium stuff that people use for altered art would probably work
• I made mini Christmas cakes for my family last year...you know the steamed sponged pudding tins? Just cut the top off (not both ends as it asks for eating the pudding inside!) and use them - they don't take long to cook and get the kids to decorate if you don't have the knack yourself
• Put a hot chocolate sachet, a mint candy cane and some mini marshmallows in a bag and then fasten with a snowman tag, I cant remember the verse I had on mine but there are several here http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/christmas/snowman-soup.html
• Last year I decorated cheap wine glasses from Tesco with peel-offs (much nicer than you would think) and gave a pair with a bottle of wine.

I filled it with a special gift
And wrapped it carefully
But please don't ever open it
Just leave the ribbon tied
And hold it tightly near your heart
Because my love for you is inside!

Make them extra special by attaching the initials of the recipients with some scrap fabric and Bondaweb. Practical and customised! You could do similar with bathroom hand towels if you can cross-stitch. You can either get border aida and sew on the aida and then attach to the towel. Or you can use scrap aida and stitch directly onto the towel using the aida as a guide. Then you can pull the strands from under the stitches. You'll be left with perfect stitches directly on the towel.

Place some Green M&M's or Green Tic Tacs in a Baggie
and attach a cute topper with one of the following poems attached:
Some kids are so special
they won't be forgot
others are so horrible
they're getting Santa snot!
So what sort of kid are you
naughty or real nice?
guess if you're reading this
Santa checked his list twice!!
or
It's 'snot' a lot to ask for
So make sure you watch what you do
And always remember your manners
A little please or a thank you
For it could make the difference
When you start to jump about
And open up your stocking
To find that Santa's snot falls out
Remember he is watching
His elves are around a lot
And if you're being naughty
All you'll get is Santa's snot

• Anti stress kit. You need a small box stick the following items onto a piece of card and label each one with instructions
I piece of popping paper (bubble wrap) to relieve tension
I miniature bottle of whiskey for when you need a drink
2 paracetamol to help with your hangover
I cigarette to calm your nerves

• You call it cockroach eggs. Get a piece of cardboard, Fold into thirds, so that it folds up into a rectangle, a third of the size of the cardboard. Get a rubber band, cut it in half. Tie a small plastic ring, or paperclip to the middle of the rubber band. You staple the ends of the band to the top and bottom of the first fold of the cardboard. You then twist the rubber band using the ring, until it is taut, and then fold the card up so the rubber band is on the inside fold of the card, and cant be seen at all. You write a story, describing cockroaches, something along the lines of they are prehistoric animals, cannot be destroyed etc etc, and have been around for thousands of years. You then say that enclosed in this card are genuine cockroach eggs, which have been dated at 3000 years old, or something like that. As the person opens the card, the elastic will unravel and make a sort of rustling noise; of course everyone thinks the cockroaches have come alive. You stick the story to the front of the outside fold of the card

• My kids favourite Christmas song that is played on our local radio station (over and over and over!!!) every year is "Rudolph the Brown Nose Reindeer" not sure what gift you could add it too but teens love the song. Any ideas for gifts 'cause I know my two would love something
Set to the usual Rudolph music
There was Donner and Dancer and Cupid and Blitzen,
Dasher and Prancer and Comit and Vixen
But do you recall the biggest butt kissing reindeer of all
Rudolph the brown nose reindeer
Bottom of the reindeer class
Wanted to be sleigh leader so he started kissing Santa's !!!
All of the other reindeer
Started hating Ruddy's guts
Whenever they saw Santa
Ruddys nose was up his butt
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
The reindeer had enough
Blitzen took him behind the sheds
And got the elves to beat him up
Oh how the Reindeer loved it as
Ruddy shouted out in pain
Ruddy the brown nose reindeer
Never kissed a butt again.
No reindeers were hurt in the making of this song!!!!!

Bought small kilner jars and layered the ingredients; the recipe was from allrecipes.com I bought a cup measure from Asda instead of converting the recipes (much easier to use). The boys decorated one side of a tag, with the instructions on the back; they also decorated the jars with glass painting pens. This year for grandparents I want to have a go at decorated candles where you print a photo onto tissue paper and use a heat gun to heat fix to the candle. • I made infused oil for family; Start saving your empty jars and little pots/bottles (I used Tesco own posh pasta sauce jars as the glass jars were embossed with fruit - made the gifts look really posh!), Buy a large bottle of olive oil from Aldi (cos it's very good and very, very cheap) add to it stuff from your cupboards...a clove of garlic, peppercorns, a couple of bayleaves and a couple of dried red chillies. Tie up with some ribbon and make a tag listing your ingredients If your jar tops have writing on them then I bought a pot of black enamel paint from B&Q for a couple of quid and painted them all or you can of course cover with paper, primas, buttons
• Alter cheap photo frames from Wilkinson’s/Ikea...metal ones are funky with alcohol inks and its amazing how far your primas and buttons can go! Put a piccy of your kids or yourself in - great for grandparents/god parents

I just loves her to bits - its just an artists model (Ikea and the Works have them) - painted with red acrylic paint - skirt & hat are made from BG paper, bodice is just ribbon wrapped around - then there are magnets on each face of the cube (inside it) then a magnet stuck to each hand. Very easy to make and really really effective. I think the original designer was a BG designer but I don't recall we were ever given a name at the class. • I scavenged again today and got an empty sweet jar, which will make a nice journal jar. I had this idea of doing it the opposite way instead of filling it with things to write about I thought I would decorate the jar and call it memories of 2006. I know I wont do something everyday but i.e. I thought I would write about special things that happen say on New years day write about what we did and roll up the memory and store in the jar tied with a nice ribbon. I thought to adapt this for a present an empty decorated jar with a bag of rolled up papers tied say for a new mother to keep a note of her baby’s milestones?

Preserve your memories,
Seal them up well.
What you forget,
You can never retell.
Writing it all at once is a lot to ask...
But bit-by-bit you can complete the task!

Instructions
This little jar celebrates something very important - YOU! All you need to do is take out one slip of paper each day. Write the question or topic at the top of a blank page in your journal and begin to tell all about it. Just tell your story about YOU! Maybe if you give a journal jar to an elderly relative this year you will learn more about them ~ Thanks

Then you can decorate them as you wish. We paint them with acrylic paints but they'd be great with rub ons and sealed with varnish
• Last year I saw some gift boxes, which contained a bottle of wine and a sachet of mulled wine spices, for an extortionate price. I think it would be very easy to copy with idea by putting some spices and dried lemon and orange slices in a bag, then attach these to a bottle of wine with a decorative tag giving instructions.

You can print this saying out onto some adhesive label paper suitable for your printer or print it onto normal plain paper. Use some clear craft glue to adhere it to the jar. If you want to go all out you can add some ribbon to the jar and even box it up for a great gag gift. --The Saying---
Did you say nothing?

• Well for those of you who wanted the recipe for sloe gin/voddy - whatever here you are:
Copied from google:
Take a litre bottle of gin, and drink half a litre
Cut or !!!!! the sloes and drop into the half-empty bottle so that they displace the remaining gin to near the top.
Add one wine goblet of sugar (approx 150g).
All you have to do now is turn or agitate the bottle daily for a week, then weekly for a month or two ... by which time it will be ready to drink (but it is really best kept until the next winter).
Alternatively my friends version which produced fab results last year but which is a little inexact...
Get a big kilner jar or bottle or similar
Fill about quarter way with sloes or whatever fruit you are using, which has been washed and pricked.
Put in a good amount of sugar (you can always add more later if its not sweet enough).
Fill until almost full with the gin or vodka
Put lid on and shake
Shake a couple of times a day or whenever you happen to think about it for a week or until all the sugar is gone.
Leave for a month or two, shaking once a week or whenever you think about it! Now you could add more sugar if you needed in which case repeat with the shaking daily till its dissolved.
Sieve and re-bottle if you are going to give as pressies or drink straight from the jam jar or bottle if not

One 750 ml bottle flavourless Vodka
2 medium ancho chillies, wiped clean
2 whole jalapeno chillies, washed and thoroughly dried

In the original bottle or in a decorative bottle of your choice, combine the chillies with the vodka. Cap tightly and leave to infuse for 7 to 10 days in a dark place. Replace the original cap with a narrow liquor spout with a screen (available from bar suppliers). Use the infused vodka to make martinis or other cocktails, being aware that with every day the chilli flavour will get stronger. If you plan to keep the vodka for more than 10 days more, it is advisable to strain out the chillies.

• One thing I did last year was to decorate the cheap 24p tea light candle holders you can get with glass paints and then cover them in modge podge and iridescent glitter, looked fab and family members loved them. Each member also had his or her own personalised wine glass as well. using the cheap wine glasses and a £4.00 glass pen, again cheap but looked fab.
• One for the adults - ones who like cherries. Get a bag or jar of glace cherries, some shops have them really cheap just now and rinse well to get the sugary coating off, leave to drain in a sieve or colander. Put into a jar or jars, I use old coffee jars, and pour on some cheap brandy, doesn't have to be expensive stuff and shake. Put the jars in a cupboard and shake every couple of days to make sure cherries are covered with the brandy. Leave as long as you like; I usually start making them about now. Take them out of the brandy and drain them in a sieve or colander, reserve the brandy to use in trifles or for brushing the Christmas cake. Then, using a toothpick, dip the cherries in melted good quality chocolate, we use dark and milk, you can either put in sweet cases or when cool into pretty boxes, but we use them just to serve as sweets - yummy, and verrrrryyy alcoholic, hic and they look pretty.
• Yes, forgot to say that, we keep the cherries in the fridge too once they are in the gift jars. I just leave them in the brandy until the last minute, as it doesn't take long to drain and dip them, they are good as a gift to take with you when you go Christmas visiting with the pressies for family and friends, just make sure you are not the driver if you are going to eat them too.

I use tumbled marble tiles because they are porous and hold the ink very well. You can colour the images with fabric markers or use a small stiff bristled paintbrush and the staz-on inkpads or chalk. If you use chalk you have to seal the tiles with a spray on sealant. I use one made by Krylon.
