How do I remove coca cola stains from a very pale carpet? :santa2:

  • Hello CeeWash

I haven’t tried the method below myself but I have it listed in some reputable hints and tips which I keep….

First, if possible, try on a small area to see if the method works for your carpet material. Secondly, don’t rub or scrub the stained area at any stage, but pat the cleaning fluids on and off with a clean cloth or paper towels.

    1. Mix one teaspoon of a neutral detergent (a mild detergent containing no alkalis or bleaches) with a cup of luke warm water. Dampen the stained area with the mixture by patting the area with the cloth or paper towel.

    2. In the meantime…. Mix one-third of a cup of white household vinegar with two-thirds of a cup of water. Pat into the stained area with a clean cloth or paper towel.

    3. Leave to dry then brush to restore pile.

    4. If badly stained, for example on a light coloured carpet then the process will need to be repeated.

    Hope this helps.

use cold soapy water, then absorb it up with cotton wool, you will see the colour go on to the cotton wool, you may need to do this a few times to get rid of it as coke can be pain to get out, but it should work.
  • I have a cream wool carpet in our lounge(never again) and I find Vanish oxi action for carpets & upholstery works on mine. I know its not O/S but drastic action was needed at the time.
