Just received this email today. Looks like they've suckered in as many people as they can and are calling it a day for a few months!
Due to the success of the MyChoice HomeBuy initiative, all present funding for Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and has now been fully allocated.
Additional MyChoice supported property purchase applications will ONLY be accepted from February 2009 onwards when additional funding will be made available.
We would like to remind individuals that funding is allocated on a 'first-come, first-serve' basis and is subject to eligibility and terms and conditions.

Chris, are you still happy you decided not to go ahead?0 -
Damn right I am... The property I was going to buy was immediately reduced to £219.500, still nearly 10k more than we agreed to pay back in July. It is still sat on the market now.
If anyone wants a property that will probably accept a huge reduction:

The house is being sold by an old lady who no longer lives there.
Let me know what the EA says if you offer £170k! But be careful because he is a pretty aggressive salesman.0 -
shame no one took up on this, it would be interesting to see!0

That £10K surely pays for more than 1 year of your rent. More if you take in to account !!!!!!'s sig that for every £1 extra borrowed you end up having to repay £3, and sellers still have to get real.0 -
That house is now down to 200k asking price... Tempting to ring and offer 150k to see what they say, but the flat we're renting is much nicer than that house was anyway
Pretty glad we didn't pay 210k for it afterall! This price reduction is nearly our (would have been) deposit down the drain, probably all of it considering what they will potentially accept as an offer for the house...0 -
The worrying thing is people still think this is there only option as they don't have deposits. One friend bought one a few months ago and keeps going up to people saying "It was a good deal wasn't it" for reasurance. Everyone says "yes" and shakes their heads as he walks away. He is getting really worried now.
Another friend is still considering it this spring again as he hasn't got enough deposit. I've got a couple of months to talk him out of it.
I just hope the developers start going bust and have to reduce their prices before the new wave of sheeple signs up.

It's now down to 189,950 (asking).
We were going to pay 210k (asking was 230 at the time, and started at 250!)
Boy am I glad we didn't!

And in other news, my current landlord offered for me to buy the flat I'm renting at the price they paid for it in Sept 2004, which was £197,500.
Still too much for my liking for a 2 bed flat!0
