Hi, this is a bit of a rant combined with a "help".
I have been paying off a settlement amount on a debt with natwest which ended up with robinson way.
I finished (or so I thought) dealing with them in mid Sept. I rang them to get a letter stating that I had paid my dues and they informed me that I had actually made a payment in error and that I had overpaid £41.67. I requested a refund and was told on 3 occasions that a refund in the form of a cheque had been sent around about the 15th Sept.
On the 23rd Sept I had a letter from them telling me I owed them £25 (a handily nice round figure!!) so I phoned and got nowhere!! After coming on for 3hrs on the phone (yep, 3 hrs-I timed it!!) to a "manager" they agreed to zero and close the account.
The refund cheque has still not arrived a month later so I have just phoned to find out why only to be told that a cheque was never sent!! I am now waiting yet again for a "manager" to call back.
The whole company is a shambles. I cant believe any company can behave like this, I know these sorts of companies have a bad reputation but didnt believe they could cause so much stress.

Not much i can suggest to be honest. You could send them a subject access request (SAR) to get a copy of all your transactions and to calculate who owes what, but that costs £10.
Do you have a record of the payments you made to them to get this sorted and check your credit file to see if the amount owed had been entered there - and if the account has been marked as settled. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
Thanks for the suggestions. I have had the call back and was basically told that as they had offered me a settlement at a reduced rate which I took up I wont get the £41.67 which I overpaid back and that I should be grateful for this. I cant face dealing with them any more as they are so agressive and are able to make two opposing statements in the same breath and argue that they are right! If this farce had not happened to me I really would not believe it could happen!!Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!0
