    1. Unless otherwise specified, competition open to UK and ROI residents aged 18 or over except employees of NI Free Newspapers Ltd (NIFNL), News International Ltd, their families, agents or any other person(s) connected with the competition, including third party promotional partners.
    2. The Game will run on http://rushhour.thelondonpaper.com/ website from October 6th 2008 to 6.00pm December 19th 2008 however, the website will be open for registration from September 25th 2008. The Game will run from Monday to Friday 6pm each week until the closing date. It will not function at the weekend. The first scoring will take place on Monday October 6th 2008.
    3. Entrants will register to play the game Rushhour (the “Game”). Entrants register by entering their name, address and date of birth along with a Username and Password which will allow entry to the Game. Entrants must choose a Username up to 20 characters long. NIFNL reserves the right to reject any Username that in its sole judgement is inappropriate or offensive.
    4. Entry limited to one per person. Entrants may register to play the Game at any time until 6.00pm December 19th 2008 but any changes made after 6.00pm on any day will not take effect for that evenings Game. However, entrants should register to play as early as possible for maximum prize winning opportunities.
    5. Entry is free but entrants should be aware that they may be subject to local call charges depending on their own individual arrangements for Internet access.
    6. How to Play: The aim of the Game is to distribute thelondonpaper to as many people as possible, during a typical London rush hour. Entrants are provided with a team of three distributors. Entrants then place their distributors on any highlighted part of the map and they will give a paper to each person who walks by. Distributors are moved by picking them up and dragging the cursor over a section of road. When it becomes lighter, entrants can drop their distributor and they will stay in that location until moved.
People enter and exit the map area from the map’s edge and from the tube station in the middle. The challenge is to work out which routes people will take. People walking are not shown, entrants must use their intuition to decide what route and to where the majority of people will walk.
The shortest route to a destination will be most people’s favourite option, but there are a number of special factors, indicated by icons, which will affect people’s choice of route. These will vary from day to day and some will attract people towards them, while others will deter them.
Provided entrants have their distributors in place by 6pm each day, the Game will store their locations for that day. The following morning, entrants will receive an email, which will tell them how many people received a copy of thelondonpaper from their distributors. If entrants do not change distributor locations each day, they will stay where they were last left continuing to work as instructed. However, as the special factors change each day, an entrant’s choice of where best to distribute from may become out of date.
Entrants will receive daily emails which will tell them how their team of distributors did compared to other people’s teams.
The overall scores expressed as a percentage are displayed on the Game site showing daily, weekly and monthly ratings and at the end of the Game the final scores.
    7. Scoring: Each day entrants will receive an email with a breakdown of how successful their distributors were. This is based on the number of people passing through the distribution area who received a newspaper from each of the entrant’s distributors expressed as a percentage and ranked against all players in the Game. The highest score at the end of the week will win the weekly prize. Each week entrants’ scores will return to zero for the purposes of the new week’s Game but the score will be stored and will accumulate towards the monthly score, when there will be another winner. The monthly score will also be returned to zero for the purposes of the next month’s Game but again the weekly scores making up that month will accumulate for an overall total at the end of the Game and the person with the highest score at the end of the Game will win the overall prize.
    8. The will be one prize each week over the eleven weeks of game play, one monthly prize each for the periods October 6 – October 31st and 2nd November – 28th November month and one overall prize through the duration of the Game. Entrants may only win one weekly prize, one monthly prize and the overall prize. In the event of an entrant winning more than one weekly or monthly prize the prize will be allocated to the next highest scoring entrant subject to these rules. A week will run from Monday – 6pm Friday, the monthly periods will run from October 6 – October 31st and 2nd November – 28th November, the final period will run from December 1st – December 19th 2008, there will be no monthly prize awarded during this final period.
    9. Weekly prizewinners will be announced the Monday of the following week. Monthly prizewinners will be announced within 5 days of the last day of the month and the overall winner will be announced within 5 days of the end of the Game. Winners will be notified via the email provided at registration and winners will also be announced on the website/in paper. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner during these timeframes. However, if a winner cannot be contacted or is not available, NIFNL reserves the right to allocate the prize to the next highest score. In the event of a tie-break a winner will be selected at random by the Editor.

I used my nickname instead so I could register today. Very annoying as my name hasn't even got any profanities in it even abreviated

Started comping September. wins so far.
:rotfl: 2 concert tickets, £30 swan instant, 2 grolsh glasses, Peroni ice bucket, £5 Esprit Voucher, 2 x bowtime, 2 night hotel stay, October 4 x bowtime (I so want that fridge), £10 voucher, Tickets to ballet, Dirty Dancing Tickets, loaf of hovis :rotfl:
  • I emailed in this morning to query why I was having trouble signing up - was told that the game wasn't working at the moment which probably explains the server error messages - but my query would be passed on to the tech team.

Just got an email back from them - apparently the problem wasn't with either my username or email address, it was my surname that was the profanity!
