where to buy a large loaf tin?

im trying to find a tin, that makes loaves the same size as shop bought ones

the largest i can find is 2lb, but that isnt deep enough for what i want.

i would really like a sandwich tin, so i can make an easy to slice, square loaf

any ideas?

Have you thought about buying a breadmaker?

i have a bread maker, but it makes small loaves. i need a pan that can make a standard shop size loaf (22 slices?)

as we get through a loaf a day, the bread machine isnt really big and fast enough - so i thought i would try and bake in the oven instead - if i can find pans big enough

Why don't you just shape the loaf as a "round" and bake it?

  • I use one by Alan Silverwood, they are wonderful - they can't rust, they have rounded corners (easy to grease) they are also very thick and strong and wider than the more usual loaf tin. The largest they make is a 2 lb loaf tin but the shape is more like a bought sliced bagged loaf so it might be what you are looking for....here's the web page

I bought a loaf tin at Lidl the last time I was there..... it was a lot longer than anything I had owned previously. But have to admit....I like the look of the one A T has posted!!!
  • Thanks!

They're not the cheapest but they are as tough as old boots, but don't look it. I used to bake professionally and I'm the proud owner of 6 of their 8" deep cake tins (I used till fill the oven with 6 carrot cakes at a time) and this loaf 2 lb loaf tin, I liked it because each slice is square-ish not narrow like most and I just can't recommend them highly enough, I know that they will outlive me and maybe even the next generation and possibly the one after........
