Debt Arrangement Scheme Scotland

Hi Everyone!!

This has probably been mentioned elsewhere on the forum but i couldn't find it and i feel its something very important and useful to those who are in debt in Scotland.

If you live in Scotland and are currently on a DMP you will be paying a lump sum each month to the CCCS or Payplan.. These guys are superb and do a fantastic job!!!!!

What I want to say is that if you are on a DMP it may be worth while looking at the DAS - Debt Arrangement Scheme as this has the full backing of the law.

It works like a DMP Debt Managment Plan, you make one payment each month and it gets distributed to your creditors with the added bonus that your creditors are not allowed to take any legal action against you when you enter into the scheme, if you have a mortgage your house will be safe as well.

But listen to this....... This is the best bit!!!

When you agress to the DAS - Debt Arrangement Scheme all interest, charges and fees are frozen from the date the DAS payment plan is approved, where as with a DMP Debt Management Plan creditors can continue to charge interest although I do know many co-operate with the CCCS and Payplan and freeze interest.

Its just a thought and another superb route to go down should your creditors still charge interest when on a DMP.

    Hiya Kev

I agree with you. The Debt Arrangement Scheme is well worth a look for anyone who is living in Scotland, and trying to find a way to manage/pay off their debts.

I'm glad you picked up on those hints I was dropping ;) . And I hope that other people will have a look at DAS too - especially those who are already on a DMP. I agree with you that CCS and Payplan do a great job, but they can't guarantee that interest, fees and charges will be frozen, and they can't protect you against court action if a creditor decides to go down that route. DAS can.
