Maximising your earnings on dooyoo

Options
N.B Some info taken from my review on https://www.opinionators.co.uk

There are numerous ways to maximise your earnings potential. These include:

The “category” competition

Every month dooyoo runs a competition in a particular category. From all the reviews of that month written in that category dooyoo choose the three best and award prizes of :

3000 dooyooMiles for the winner
2000 dooyooMiles for the Second Prize
1000 dooyooMiles for the Third Prize

Dooyoo themselves select these three reviews according to quality of information and on them being “fun to read”. What this means is that the most personally written and appealing reviews are the ones most likely to be considered for prizes. Make your review full of information but also full of opinion. The reviews that have been awarded so far all have something in common, they refer to the product or service THEY have used. They do not delve into a brand and are not written in an impersonal “all inclusive” fashion. Write about your experience from start to finish including everything that YOU consider important as a consumer and you will be giving yourself the best chance of being considered for the monthly prizes. There is no need to inform dooyoo of your entry. Every review written in the category of the month will be considered by dooyoo staff. Good luck and get writing!

The first review draw

“The first review draw” differs from the monthly competition in that quality of review is not the important factor here but rather writing the first review of a product in a selection of categories. These categories are subject to change so it is always worth looking at the member page for any new developments (http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/community/). Maximising your chances of winning the monthly review draw prize of 2500 miles is simply a matter of contributing the first review across the four categories on offer. Since, the draw is something of a lottery the philosophy of, “the more tickets the better” may well apply here. You do however, risk annoying your fellow members if you churn out reviews of little substance across the categories so although quantity is the watchword here, I would also be wary of “churning” and alienating your readers. As with the monthly competition your reviews are automatically considered by dooyoo staff on posting to the site. Feeling lucky?

General review writing

Maximising your profit here is a delicate balance of quality versus quantity. I would say the best way to maximise your potential profits is to stick to no more than five reviews a day (I never write more than two). This way your reviews will get a maximum number of hits from members and as such will maximise your 1.5p per read. It is tempting to post loads of reviews a day for the 500 mile (50p) per post reward but I would be wary of this as you risk alienating dooyoo members and guides. In the short term posting loads of reviews can be very profitable but if you are playing the long game it is more beneficial to keep the respect of members.

Why is this?

Members respect for you and your reviews mean potential nominations for crowns. Crown awards are worth £1.50 and are awarded on a Tuseday every week. Best of all there is no limit to how many you can be awarded. A good writer (you do not have to be great) can potentially earn two or three crowns in one week. That is £4.50. Combined with reads that equates to around a fiver and this is before you add up your 50p's for posting your reviews! Do not worry to much about writing an epic. I have seen reviews of 500 words and 1500 words crowned. Rememeber there is more competition for crowns in the really popular categories. You may find it harder to get a crown in the highly competitive movie category for example.

Reading others reviews

The idea of reading other members reviews to earn you money might be a strange concept to some. However, you have to try and remember dooyoo is a community and by reading other peoples reviews you are bringing yourself to their attention. Sites such as dooyoo are all about exposure so reading and commenting on reviews is the best way to get this. Members usually end up reading your reviews as a result which means earnings for you and potential crown nominations. Do try and make sure you read them though! Dooyoo have ways of figuring out when someone has read a review so simply clicking through as many as possible will only flag you to dooyoo abuse.

The referral scheme

Referring members can be potentially profitable. However, these member do have to become active to reap you the greatest reward. Dooyoo themselves say:

"The My Invitations tool is here to stay and we'll give you bonus dooyooMiles every time a friend you've invited to dooyoo registers and writes at least one Premium Review. Plus we'll give you another bonus if your friend writes a Crowned Review - we think quality should be rewarded!"

And finally

If you are writing for money remember you will not get 500 miles for posting in either the archive or Speakers Corner category. The Speakers Corner category also does not pay for crowns and they are only a status symbol in here. Write in this category for the love of writing and not for the cash. You can also get 10 miles (a whole penny) for suggesting a product but if you add too many without writing about them dooyoo may stop paying you this.

Dooyoo can be relatively profitable but it is not a get rich quick scheme. You can churn short term but eventually you will fall foul of members and dooyoo themselves as you struggle to keep to the sites Terms and Conditions. Playing the long game you can easily earn twenty+ pounds a month if you maximise your earnings potential so those wishing to head on over and get writing!

Nice advice there. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Speaking as a "veteran" dooyoo'er, I would have to say that the best way is to take the time to read as many reviews written by others and only post one or two reveiws a day. That way, like you said, you maximise the number of people who will read your reviews and rate them. Many people will only read the reviews of people who have read and rated theirs, although some people will take the time to read all the new reviews posted! I have not been on to read or write for a while, with moving house and all that, but will be back really soon ... look out you have all been warned lol.

Have you tried epinions? They are an american site, and only pay out to UK writers once their balance reaches $100.

I find that I can write a review on Dooyoo, post it on Ciao and Epinions, and effectively get paid 3 times for the same review! Dooyoo is by far the best of the 3, but like the man at Mr T's supermarket says, every little helps!

  • Yep I reached $100 dollars in 3 years then realised after US tax deductions it would be more like 75 and then I had to file a special form which I had to send to the US! Have not bothered cashing out yet as a result.

I've been with them about 2 years and am at $66 so might just make the $100 at some point next year lol. I find that I post more on there when they have their 10 reviews for $10 promos on but don't post there as often as I do for dooyoo or ciao. I have cashed out on ciao but am now going to leave the money in there till there is enough to pay something off, which will probably take me about 5 years lol. It looks like me and DH will have to go on some kind of DMP with him losing his job (even though he has another job now its 75% less wages than he was on so something needs to be done and quickly) at least dooyoo pay in amazon vouchers which I will be using towards christmas pressies for our little ones this year.

Do you have the same username on dooyoo as here? I have, and will have a looksie for you on dooyoo x
