Advice on hair colour?

I currently have my hair coloured by foils (2 colours blonde with bleach and I light brown.) This can cost me £60 with a cut but I find that it never is close to the roots and the side underneath always look dark.

What other way apart from foils can I have my hair dyed. I have asked my hairdresser but she just says foils.

I am a natural mousey brown. Could I have a whole head of colour and then foils or cap put through? How much would that cost?

I used to have foils and then a tint on the rest of my hair.
Foils went in first and then the tint was applied to the rest of the hair.

My mum has a full head done and then blonde streaks by cap, but then you get obvious re-growth all over.

It costs more than just foils.

I have foils for the dark part of mine, my hairdresser then does the roots of the dark with the dark tint. And the blonde is foiled (too make two colours of blonde)and then the roots touched up with one of the blondes. COnfusing eh! I get a cut and blowdry and the 3 colours for £78.

The cheapest way would be to DIY. i.e. buy a hair dye in a box, however, if you rather stick with a hairdresser, you could check out local training colleges or salons, find someone that will come to your house or just shop around for a cheaper hair-dresser. People in your area may be able to recommend someone if you check out the local moneysaving threads.

I have exactly the same as the OP - a t-section of three colours and underneath is my natural mousey colour. I find too they don't get close to the roots, and as they don't put the same olour on the same piece of hairs each time you get various lines growing out of your length (which is v long in my case!)

Tempted to try a single colour or just go back natural for the winter but I can't decide.

Do it yourself, it is the cheapest although I admit it takes some practice. First do the base colour one week and then apply the highlights on top the week after. Best system is with a cap, it makes a lot less mess than the foils. Start with a few and then if you want put a few more the week after, it will give you a more natural oveall look. If you can get a girlfriend around to help with the hair at the back, the better! Then return the favour and you also have a great night girls in. :j
