Hair Straightening

I was wondering if anybody new of any good hair products which would keep my hair nice and straight.

I've got naturally curly hair and with my GHD's I can get my hair really straight which I love. The only problem is it doesn't stay straight very long. It gets a few kinks in it as soon as I go outside.

I've just had a fringe cut in and it looks lovely straight but a bit dodgy once it gets kinky!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I too hair curly hair ( we never like what weve got do we !), which i straighten nearly every day.

Ive found that its in the preparation before straigtening thats the key for me, i use a good quality shampoo/con (i love kerastase reflection or redken smooth down, i only use these for special occasions !) and when i do use these i dry my hair carefully in small sections, blowing it straight first.

Then i use redken smooth down serum on the mid to bottom of my hair then straighten, its stays poker straight and the day after as well, i dont know what budget your on, but it lasts ages as you only need a tiny amount.

Hope that helps, ive also found gianni umberto smooth down (i think) its in a blue can helps for every day and smells lovely.

I saw a home kit to do this when I was in Boots yesterday - didn't notice how much is was but it caught my eye as I was looking at the hair dyes.

Guess it depends how confident you are to do it yourself - I know some people aren't. I always colour my own hair myself...but my sister in law always gets me to do hers.

my hair is naturally straight and I still use my GHD's! If my hair wasn't straight, I'd certainly get one of those kits to try!

I use various different shampoos and conditioners - Tresemme is a favourite at the moment - but whatever else I'm using In always use one of those deep cleansing build-up removing shampoos once a fortnight or so. I then use Frizz Ease heat defence serum, and give me hair a good spray with a heat defending straightening spray before going near it with the straighteners. I use Wet-2-Straight straighteners as I hate blow-drying! My hair is extremely thick and devilishly difficult to either wet right through or indeed to dry down to the roots. I've found that the routine above gives me straight hair that easily lasts three days unless I go out in the rain of course!

It depends on how much hair you have and what type of chemical straighening. I have the Wella type and it is about £60. I've had it done twice. I was told it would last around three months but it was longer. My hair isn't curly but it kinks out and can be frizzy. It really relaxed my hair and I only use my GHDs on a tiny section. My hair is in much better condition after the chemicals than from using GHDs everday. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for that. I've tried loads of shampoos, conditioners etc but still seems to go bit kinky once i go outside. I really liked the Umberto Gianni Blue one but they repackaged and must have changed some ingredient and it made me have reaction to it.

Just bought some serum from Superdrug called Samy which was recommended on another site and I must say I am very impressed so far. Might go and stand out in the rain to see what happens ha ha.

I've used Keratase before as I had my hair chemically relaxed a view times in the past. They say you shouldn't have this done if you have your hair highlighted/coloured but it is good otherwise.

I had my hair chemically straightened in Brazil. The treatment is called 'Escova progresiva' and apparently is banned here because it uses formaldhyde! (Its ok as long as you don't breathe in too much of it though, they give you a mask to wear just in case).

My hair was lovely afterwards, also longer because the straightening lenghtens out any frizz. Hair was thicker and shinier too (it is coated).

I had a beach holiday that involved going in and out of the sea several times a day and my hair just dried as if I'd spent half-an-hour with the straighteners. I didn't need to use them at all for about 4 months.

Fantastic..... and only about £25!

Wish you could get that treatment here in UK!

Avon do an anti-frizz Shampoo and Conditioner that are brilliant for reducing frizz and making my hair lovely and straight. Very cheap too!
