Or so I thought..................
I went into the Oxford branch of Argos this evening, and on a shelf with a great big official Argos sign read "Philips DVD recorder £39.99". So, I picked up one of the boxes under the sign, which was a philips dvd recorder. I took it to the checkout and the price came up at £149.99. Obviously I was not happy and asked to speak to the Manager, about 10 minuites later she appeared and informed me, that last night one of the lads printed out a wrong ticket and this was not the correct price. I argued the point, but she would not lower the price, stating that she was withdrawing it from sale................Is this correct
Any advice
Thanks

The law states that Argos are making an invitation for you to buy - they then don't have to honour the price if they find it to be an error and may offer it you at the correct price. Law now protects them (I'm afraid).________________________________________

Unfortunately, in law you are offering to buy the item, they are not offering to sell.
While the law would be on your side if it was false advertising, this was clearly a genuine mistake, and as soon as you bought it to their attention they rectified it.
If you are lucky they will sometimes give you a gift voucher in this situation, but I'm afraid there is nothing you can do.
