More than likely so they can trace/ identify you if you default. although how they get hold of the information is anyone’s guess.

This company really are the lowest of the low, if you are even considering using them think about it very carefully

I worked for this company many years ago in the office. Avoid like the plague is all I will say.

Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat.

  • OH used to work for them and they require NI number for tracing purposes incase you go AWOL.

They do do credit checks and searches are made on your credit files!

They do charge extortionate interest rates but most people who take out the loans are people with very bad credit/on benefits/non british people etc so they do have little choice/options available to them.

My husband used to hate working for them!

My cousin worked for them from the 90's to 2000 so i asked and the reply was They conform to data protection act and do credit searches using your NI number and it is also used by outside collection agencies and courts if you later default and the matter is taken or passed on further.

I agree with others avoid like the plague interest rates are beyond belief but I am also told they are on the whole cheaper than many others  SO what they charging at these other places

Would love to know how they think that one works, your NI number is in no way shape or form linked to your credit file.

The only purpose i can see in obtaining the NI number is to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you are who you claim to be on the application form, and also if any recovery procedure needed to be undertaken as a restult of a default then the NI number could again be used to validate identity.

However as far as I am aware no private company has access to the data base of all NI numbers, so they would have to use this method of ID validation on a case by case basis
