Round-One/p1

Due to popular demand, it’s back! We’re very happy to announce the start of the new, improved TrustedReviews digital photography competition! We’ve got new sponsors, bigger prizes and even more challenging themes to test your imagination and photographic skill.

After the success of our previous photography competition, which ended in May we knew we had to do it again.

The idea is the same as before. Each month we’ll provide a theme for your photographs and a closing date, and your task is to go out and take photographs that match that theme, and send them to us before the deadline.

Our team of highly trained experts will then study the entries and pick the winners. The best entries will be shown on the site at the end of the month.

As before there will be three prize winners each month, and thanks to our new sponsors we’ve got some fantastic prizes up for grabs.

See details of how to enter in the post below...

The Prizes

All three prize winners will receive a superb two-gigabyte SanDisk Extreme III high speed memory card in the format of their choice, as well as a top-quality SanDisk ImageMate 5-in-1 card reader. SanDisk memory cards come with a limited lifetime warranty, they are used and trusted by professional photographers all over the world and are renowned for their fantastic performance and reliability. The 5-in-1 card reader is a versatile gadget that is ideal for anyone who has to deal with multiple memory card formats. It handles CompactFlash, SD/MMC/SDHC, xD-Picture, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, and connects via USB 2.0 for high speed performance.

We’ve also got some great prizes this month from Olympus cameras. The second placed entry will win the awesome mju 850 SW, an all-action shockproof and waterproof compact camera designed for those who like a life of adventure. The 850 SW is the top model of the highly acclaimed mju Digital range. It boasts 8.0-megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom and a high-resolution 2.5-inch monitor. It is waterproof to a depth of three metres, and can survive falls of up to 1.5 metres with no ill effects.

  • IMPORTANT - How to enter - Please read the following carefully

    THIS MONTH'S THEME

Your theme for the month of August is WOOD, STONE & WATER.

You are free to interpret this theme in any way you want, but do at least try to follow it. In our previous competition, every month a number of entries completely missed the theme because some people obviously didn't read this page properly. Photos that don't follow the theme stand no chance of winning no matter how good they are.

    CLOSING DATE

Entries for this month's competition should arrive no later than AUGUST 31st 2008, so you've got over four weeks to get snapping.

Simply send us ONE (and only one) photograph which you think best captures the theme for the month. The photograph must be wholly your own work, and you must legally hold the copyright to it. Anyone caught stealing images from other sources will be instantly disqualified and banned from entering future competitions.

Images must be submitted in JPEG format, and should be at least 600 pixels wide, but the total file size must be no larger than 3.0 megabytes.

You can edit, improve or alter your photo in any way you like. Composite images made using an image editing program are acceptable, as long as they are made predominantly from photographs, and that all parts of the image are wholly your own work. Due to the size limitations it's a good idea to avoid wide frames or borders. Please don't put copyright watermarks or other identifying marks on the photo, although you may add them into the EXIF data if you wish. Don't worry; we won't steal your work!

When you've got a nice picture ready to send, here's what you need to do:

    * Save your picture in JPEG format.
    * Make sure your picture is at least 600 pixels wide, but less than 3MB.
    * Re-name the image file to your name with an underscore between first and second names, such as "Joe_Bloggs.jpg" for example.
    * Start a new email to trphotocomp@googlemail.com
    * Put the words "Wood, stone & water" in the subject line of the email.
    * In the body text of the email, put your postal address, and what type of memory card you'd like to receive
(SD, CompactFlash etc.). This is very important; you can't receive a prize if we don't know where to send it.
    * Add your competition photo as an attachment to this email.

Please note that entries that don't follow these instructions may get lost in the email system, and may also be summarily disqualified for annoying Cliff, who has to sort through them all.
