Winners will be selected from all correct entries received before the lines close at midnight on Saturday, July 26.
Texts cost 25p plus standard msg rate. Calls cost 25p per minute from standard BT landlines and should last no longer than 2 minutes. If you call or text in after the closing date/time of this competition, you will not be entered but you will be charged. Competition closes at midnight on Saturday, July 26. Winners, selected at random from all entries received, will be contacted on Monday, July 28.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: 1. Entrants must be aged 18 years or over and resident in England, Scotland or Wales. Employees of British Gas or their agents or families are not eligible to win.
2. There are ten prizes of a year’s free gas and electricity on British Gas’ Zero Carbon tariff at an average consumption of 20,500 kWh for gas and 3,300 kWh for electricity. The prize will be awarded as a credit to the winner’s electricity and (if
relevant) gas accounts up to the relevant consumption level and is based on the price for British Gas Zero Carbon applicable at July 27, 2008.
3. To be eligible to receive the prize, the prizewinners must be eligible to switch energy supplier (including having paid off all debts to their existing energy supplier) or be an existing British Gas customer for both gas and electricity. As a condition to accepting the prize, each of the winners agree to switch suppliers and/or tariffs to British Gas Zero Carbon tariff.

4. If the winner leaves British Gas for either or both fuels, or does not consume gas and/or electricity to the value of the credit within the 12-month period, he/she will not be entitled to any refund of any unused part of the relevant credit. All gas and/or electricity consumed after the prize credit has been used up or the 12-month period has expired will be charged at the appropriate British Gas rate.
5. If the winner has, at the date of winning the prize, a prepayment meter for either or both fuels, the prize will be a cheque for £500 for electricity and/ or £700 for gas, as appropriate.
6. If the winner is not eligible for Zero Carbon tariff for any reason, British Gas will put him/her on British Gas standard tariff and credit his/her account with £500 for electricity and/ or £700 for gas, as appropriate.
7. If the winner is not on mains gas he/she will receive a credit of £500 on his/her electricity account.
8. British Gas reserves the right to withdraw or cancel this promotion at any stage in the event of exceptional circumstances beyond its control.
9. Claiming a prize authorises British Gas to publish the name and county of winners, take publicity photographs and interview the winners and for these to be used by British Gas in any media promotion.
10. There is no cash alternative to the stated prize. British Gas reserves the right to offer a similar prize if the stated prize is unsuitable.
11. The name and county of the winners will be available on request from the promoter.
12. Only one entry per household.
13. The judge’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
14. Claiming/accepting a prize or submitting an entry to this prize draw is deemed to be an acceptance of these terms and conditions. The promoter reserves the right to refuse entry of or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of the terms and conditions.
