Sky + Half Price Offer

Just phoned Sky to ask the price of upgrading to Sky + and been told that from 8.30 this morning they have an offer of £49 instead of the usual £99. To qualify you have to take multiroom which costs an extra £10 amonth.

The girl on the phone didn't know how long the offer is going to last.

I phoned originally to query my package as I was paying £42.50 a month, and found that I was paying for the sports channels which we never watch ! Customer Services recommended I go onto Sky.com to check what package I need, but by cancelling sports I have saved £6.50 a month, so maybe I will upgrade to Sky+ and put that towards the extra £10 for multiroom.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

  • Rather than upgrade you can introduce a friend who will get Sky+ for £49 and Sky will upgrade you to Sky+ 160 with the option of going multiroom with your old box.
  • Charlies_mum why don't you try the following:
Phone Sky and tell them you are not happy with new customers being offered Sky+ for £49 and 3 months at half price. I wanted Sky+, but wasn't prepared to pay the £49 plu £10 per month for Multi-room. After threatening to cancel my contract, they eventually offered Sky+ for a one-off payment of £65. I then tried my luck by asking whether I could have the Sky +160 box, but didn't succeed.

The same thing happened to us. My husband rang to enquire about sky+ and asked if we could have it for £49 as a few of our friends have had it fitted for that. He was told it would cost us well over £200 but after threatening to cancel the subscription altogether we were also offered it for a one off payment of £65. They are now supplying brand new boxes as opposed to refurbished ones and these have a recording time of 40 hours rather than 20 which the old ones had. I have to say it is fantastic and am so happy with it.

Right, I'm going to pluck up the courage and ring now. I have been threatening to do this for months now and keep wimping out. I 've been looking through the threads and can't find the Disney free phone number. Can anyone help me, please, before I lose my nerve? It's actually in my husband's name so I hope they will deal with me as he is useless at things like this.

Here you go - 0800 279 3366 option 1. We have put this number on our viewing card as I can never find anything either! :D

    Good luck

irs not from this morning as the offer has been on their website for ages now and there is already an existing thread about it - YES I am talking about the offer for EXISTING customers.

Oh and the Disney number no longer works - Sky obviously didn't like us phoning them for free :(

To get your sky plus box basically free - cancel your sky contract completely. Then get you OH to sign up through quidco and online for the new customer offer which is sky plus for £49 with multiroom plus 3 months half orice and you will get £50 cashback from quidco. Ok you are then tied into another 12 month contract but its what I did

I tried to sign up through Quidco and online for the new customer offer which is sky plus for £49 etc. but it can't be completed online. How did you achieve this?

I hung on for 25 minutes on Saturday (v. busy apparently) only to be told I had to speak to cancellations and that would be another 17 minute wait! She said it was quieter on Sunday morning so I rang then. The girl was very friendly and I pushed her as hard as I dared but they don't give much away, do they? She eventually reduced our normal price to £18 from £21.50 as we never watch kid's TV or MTV, let us have the box for £65 but we have to pay the £10 a month for the recording facility! I thought that was the whole point of the box! It's like getting a TV but without the tube or something which you have to pay extra for. So, I was trying to reduce our costs and instead of £21.50 we will now pay £28 per month but we will have Sky+ which is what I wanted. She blinded me with science a bit as I don't know whether it would have been better to pay the extra £10 per month and have sports or movies (? then you get Sky+ free) but I think that may have been £20 extra then as she was insistent you had to pay £10 for the recording facility. BTW, they had to speak to OH as it is in his name but I did the negotiating (!) Anyway, we have one month's trial to cancel if we don't like it.

no you get the sky plus recording option for free if you get two or more premium channels - ie SKY Sports 1 and 2 would count as 2 premium channels - I would phone back and a) complain that you were misled and b) change your package so you get more channels for your money AND recording for free rather than just forking out extra to use sky plus

What kind of package (channel wise) were you adding?

    All you do is
    a) set up an account with quidco
    b) Using their A-Z find SKY and click on that
    c) then click on Click here to get cashback (big green button)
You will now be in Skys page
    d) simply order your channels and equipment as you would normally (you still PAY the £49 for the sky plus box
    e) check your quidco account and in a few days time (at most) you will have £50 pending from the Sky offer

This will basically pay for the Sky plus box as you will have money in your paypal account when it changes from pending to validated and then from validated to paid

    HTH :)
