The legendary Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo are hitting the road to bring glitz, glamour and comedy to 11 UK venues as part of a Dance Consortium tour. The company stop off at Birmingham Hippodrome from Wednesday 5 - Saturday 8 November.
Affectionately known as The Trocks, the company’s 16 professional male dancers faithfully bring to life some of the greatest moments of classical ballet, displaying startling technique. Treading a fine line between high art and high camp, the dancers, including Ida Nevasayneva, Sveltlana Lofatkina and Lariska Dumbchenko, perform en pointe in glittering tutus combining a loving knowledge of dance with a wicked sense of fun.
Founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo have since performed in over 500 cities around the world delighting dance aficionados and novices alike. They have been the subject of many television shows across the world including a South Bank Show documentary and in 2006 won the Critics Circle Award for most outstanding repertoire.
