orange default

Evening all!:hello:
I have done the free credit report from experian for my OH after he was turned down for a bank account... :o

Orange have put a default on his account, 117 not paid.

His phone was stolen last year from a UK house whilst he was on a long holiday, and it was used. Orange insurance refused to pay up for a new phone or the calls, saying it was his fault that it wasn't secured (which we didn't dispute, it was builders let in by flatmates we think took it), so they agreed that he couldn't continue his contract without a replacement phone and it was mutually terminated. This was verbal (I was there for the telephone conversation), and he is not the best at redirecting/collecting post, and his orange bills were going to his old address, so he had no idea that there was a problem after this. So... not saying he's blameless, more trying to get this sorted for us, cos we'll want to buy a house in about 2 years and his rating is shot from this!
I've never had a default so would like my fellow DFWs' expertise on how bad they affect you and whether you think Orange would remove the default if we paid it (can they be removed?!), I know they stay on for 6 years otherwise, or if orange can be negotiated with... learned the lesson here to get everything in writing

Thanks in advance
Claire

get them to check back on the notes especialy the ones with retentions to make sure it was put in place, if it has been noted they will have to hornour it and cancel and refund, if they do this then speak to collections about getting his file updated to show it was there falut.

if it is nt noted they should be able to tell who he spoke to and chase it uo with them or their team leader

    hope that helps
