The ST231 shoes (£160) has been specifically developed for triathlon and feature an upper made of polyurethane-coated leather and breathable mesh panels. A single, broad Velcro strap is employed
for secure foot retention and to make foot entry and exit quick and
easy when it comes to transition.

But what is really going to help speed up your journey between T1 and T2 is the stiff, full-carbon sole that offers improved power transfer while allowing the shoes to be made much lighter. In fact, the ST231s tip the scales at just 680g for the pair.
