Phone call request from DLC...

Hi all,
Just got off the phone from DLC who have my debt from my Egg credit card (Outstanding Balance = £3238).
They wanted to up my monthly payment by what she said was a small increase - from £100 to £135... Explained that i didn't think 35% was a small increase and that i've been struggling to pay the £100 never mind £135.
She said she'd have to accept £100 then but can i send her my last 3 months wage slips.
QUESTION: Is it wise to do this - i've got nothing to hide but it seems that I'm giving her a hell of a lot of information - e.g. my employers details...
Thoughts??

Not without a court order.cresswell80 wrote:No but...can she attach something to my earnings by contacting my employer or anything like that?

and not unless you want to!!!
they will try this on every time, you agree £135 now, in three months you will get another call asking for 160 / 170, you are best to put your foot down now and say no, £100 is all I can afford, if you want to take me to court the judge will see that I probably cant even really afford this and will award you less anyway
let them decided what they want to do with that thought in mind
I would also strongly suggest that you undertake no further contact be telephone WHATSOEVER , all communication with DLC should be in writing only.
This is the only way to defend yourself if they do turn nasty on you:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
Get Caller Line Identification, only answer calls you can identify. If your curiosity gets the better of you, call back but withold your number so you are in control of who talk to.0

No, no, no! Do NOT send them anything. You can, if you wish, send them an income & expenditure sheet showing them that you are paying what you can afford after reasonable living expenses. If they don't like it - tough.0

already sent them this when commencing the payment plan 7 months ago... my payments are pro-rata'd between DLC (for Egg) and Cap One and my circumstances haven't changed - i explained this to her, but she wanted to increase my monthly payment...
she actually wanted me to pay the balance in full - as if by magic i had over £3k
i said the only way i could settle this is by giving her £500 that i could borrow from a friend in full and final settlement - she said "no chance" - as it's a credit card, it has to be paid in full (incidentally, i was only joking with the £500 offer, but does the fact that it's a credit card mean that i have to pay it in full??)..
THanks for your advice so far guys...0 -

They are trying to pull a fast one. If they have now bought the debt, they did not pay the full price for it and therefore they can offer a settlement figure if and when they want to.
Send a new income and expenditure sheet and if they are not happy with what you are offering, contine to make the payments as per the I & E and if they decide to take you to court, go to court and make a statement to the Judge that you have been reasonable and have tried to come to an agreed repayment and that you have supplied I & E sheet, that they would not accept and you will usually get the judge to make the order in your favourI am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -

That's what I was thinking...AGB863 wrote:Send a new income and expenditure sheet and if they are not happy with what you are offering, contine to make the payments as per the I & E and if they decide to take you to court, go to court and make a statement to the Judge that you have been reasonable and have tried to come to an agreed repayment and that you have supplied I & E sheet, that they would not accept and you will usually get the judge to make the order in your favour
That's exactly what I'll do - thanks you've reassured me...0
