this suggestion might not be popular with the management of MSE but am sure it will be popular with people who work and dont live beyond their means and save. so here goes ....
for the politicians to make effective rules which govern lending criteria and to protect savers investments which is also a very important goal of regulatory authorities (and i think of this forum too) and also about IVA and bancruptcy proceedings they NEED to be aware of how people use these bancruptcy proceedings to get rid of their debts accrued by living beyond their means. a very good way of getting a feel of how people live beyond their means can be seen by the politicians who make the laws by going through the debt and IVA and bancruptcy forums on MSE. reading the posts on those sections of MSE will give law makers a very valuable insight into what sort of things need to be encouraged or discouraged by new legislation. so can MSE please include a link to the debt forums and IVA and bancruptcy forums on MSE in the letters sent to politicians so that the politicians can get a first hand feel of people in these situations and consequently they will be better informed when they legislate regarding these issues.
i feel this will be an important issue for all savers and people who live within their means. but i doubt whether this will happen after seeing what i have seen on this website over the last few years when i was a lurker and also during my time as a member of the forum*****.
******EDIT- evidence on why i say this wont happen. any post referencing or discussing in a criticising way about bancruptcy gets deleted or moved to a corner . isnt the 'debate house prices, economy and recession' forum an appropriate place to discuss effects of bancruptcy on the economy as a whole??? why do such threads as linked get moved from the debate economy forum to discussion time. anyway my rant for the day. i dont own the forum. guess the forum management will do as they seem fit. just giving my feedback on such silly deletions or moving of posts to elsewhere from the debate economy forum. i know its a hard volunteering job for the board guides and i appreciate their hard work and just giving feedback about such moving of posts being inappropriate.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

ban prepack administrations where the new buyers have any links with present management or the company that is seeking administration eg. buyouts by other companies owned by the same group owning the company seeking administration or any of the present management.
allow prepack administration where systemic risk is involved but even here buyers should not have any link with present owners or its management.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

We are doing this wrong. We are meant to post on the thread linked to in Martin's OP not here.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. house sale prices are registered on different registers if bought by individuals or companies. the prices paid by companies isnt easily available to the general public and skews the price info by hiding the prices paid by companies for properties in any area. to avoid this double standards house price info should be on a common register and publically available info.
why should the public not have access to prices paid by companies for properties in any area, when they are allowed access to prices paid by individuals. this will have a bearing on offers made by individuals if they have access to all sale prices in an area instead of just one part of it.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Come on guys - you all have so many excellent ideas, on here - how about adding some of your inspiration to the thread in the OP?
Your ideas may get read by the great and good, and - you never know - problems you've been moaning about for ages may get looked at or even dealt with.
Surely no better opportunity to do more than just mouth off on here or in private.0 -
Come on guys IDEAS....Martin has popped this onto other boards too....do you want to be upsatged by The Arms...or DT?
BTW, I haven't got one yet....could plagiarise one from elswhere though ;-)
I put in what I thought was a good (not rude, not racist, not messing about) idea. I think it was deleted.
It was along the lines of "No weasel words in contracts. The big words in the advert should reflect the small print in the resulting contract accurately".0 -
