Need to brainstorm

We've been offered a 3 bed house :T . It's on a new build estate and is built with a lot of eco-friendly materials. But it is a 50 minute walk from school, though there is a walking bus we could use nearby though either option means leaving the house at 7.45 in the morning. Middle child starts in the nursery attached to the school in September for 1 1/2 days a week. Because of my disability I get days when I have difficulty getting out of the house and walking. The hospital and Dr's are near the school and I have to go about twice a week.
The garden is about 1/5th the size we have now. So we will have to get rid of a lot of the play equipment and we won't be able to grow as much veg. Also it is in the shade most of the day.
The footprint of the house seems to be slightly smaller than we have now, though there is a kitchen diner, which will be a bonus. From looking through the windows on the ground floor and trying to envisage what the up stairs is like the 3 bedrooms would fit into the 2 bedrooms we have now. Apparantly we have en-suite, though to be honest I would prefer more bedroom space.
We would have to pay out for carpets right through, but I am checking Freecycle.
It would probably be easier to do an exchange from this house to a house in the area we would prefer.
The town is a 15/20 minute walk away. The big park is 15 minutes walk away. The hairdressing college is over the road (cheap haircuts.) The train station is 10 minutes away. The sports centre is a 10 minute walk as well.
My nightmare neighbour who lives upstairs from me has been offered one 6 doors away. There is a block of flats the other wat where the HA will put people who have had problems will be put and yes I know this means lovely families like MOT and Blue Monkey but it also means those who have caused problems else where and are on thier last chance.
So could I have your thoughts people as to weather we except this or not. Please I just need some people to brainstorm with. Will be out most of the day but I look forward to your reading your replies tonight. Am I just being silly and should we just move.
Thanks for reading my ramblings

Will turning this down put you down lower on the list?
What does your gut feeling tell you about this house?
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
If we officially go with them to look at it we loose a life (we have 2 lives, so to speak and if we use them up then they won't offer again for a year, though we can stay on the mutual exchange list.) If we say no with out officially declaring an interest we can say no as many times as we want with out it effecting us.
It is a lovely house and it would be nice to have fresh and clean but I don't know. Half of me says yes go for it another half says it's not right.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
" My nightmare neighbour who lives upstairs from me has been offered one 6 doors away."
- can you hold on to the offer until you find out if your nightmare neighbour is going first...then stay put if possible....
50 minutes is a long way if it's pouring down and windy...sorry! And being over the road from a hairdresser is only useful if you're a Beckham.
have a great day outFor what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Try writing down all the pro's and cons of going for this house, weigh up which are the priorities and which you could compromise on the see which list is stronger.
Whichever home you're offered there will be a few things not right. can you take it for now but keep looking?

Move schools? Are you able to drive - Learn?
Will refusing put you further down on the list?
How soon could are you allowed to exchange? I mean, could you go on the exchange list the day after you move in, while the estate still looks new? If it will help you move on sooner rather than later, perhaps its an idea as its more a short term thing then?
But I do understand what you mean. 6 of us are in a 2-bed house (used to be 7 of us!) and although we would be offered another house within a year or two, it would be anywhere in the local area - and I am not prepared to live anywhere, not when you see some of the estates in this town (lock your doors and duck when you drive through sort of thing!) so we are staying put and making do with what we have.0 -

Yep done that and esentially came up with this list. If we do move then I will stay on the mutual exchange list to swap 3 to 3 into the prefered area.
I have also priced up storage for the furniture we couldn't fit in this house and it is £64 for 16 weeks. Got to find out if there is a discount for long termBSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
I agree with Bismark. A hairdressers only useful once every now and again and 50 mins in the cold and wet is a long walk.
The feeling i get from your post is that you don't want it. Its full of negatives and the only positives are the kitchen/diner and hairdressers.
If i remember rightly, one reason you want out of your present place is the condensation/damp. Well its almost summer:rolleyes: so i guess thats not so much of a problem during warmer weather. Maybe best to hang tight for a while and see what else you get offered.
Its a tough call though, and one only you and hubby can make really.
Just remember 'home is where the heart is' and i don't think your hearts in this one.:DThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -
At least if the horrid neighbour is going then it makes your flat look more appealing for the summer months!0

Move schools? The school they are in have just sailed through an offstead inspection and got a majority of ones. The school nearby has just had a change of head to combat difficulties Are you able to drive - Learn? Medically unfit to drive.
Will refusing put you further down on the list? See reply further down

Thanks for that Skylight. Glad you know where I am coming from.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
