Seeking Uk work from outside Uk

I know this is a strange request... I have been living in Thailand for a year now and have had a couple of jobs here but not really found anything to suit me. I have this idea that if I could work for a UK company from Thai (I am British and can legally work and pay tax). I am thinking along the lines of customer support, sales support, customer service, helpdesk that kind of thing maybe for an online retailer handling live support, email, inbound (voip) calls. GMT is 7 hours behind Thailand so I might be able to offer hours that would be unsociable hours for a UK worker and at a lower cost compared to a similar experienced and qualified UK worker.
I have retail experience in the electrical retail industry for over 15 years at sales, showroom manager and general manager positions. I am well qualified BA(hons) Business Studies, NVQ retail operations, Uni management certificate, TEFL.
I just don't know how to market myself and offer my services to companies, I am happy with just part time work and earning around 400 pm. Pretty much open to anything but how do I convince a UK employer to take a chance on me being so far away?
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi I am still looking out for a job, so just bumping my post again if anyone can offer any help (or a job)...
I am working locally here at the moment but its not really suiting me, I have also done some freelance work for an expat website and am doing other bits and pieces like my search funds. Tried Kasamba but not much going on there, texperts and AQA want UK residents only. Considered an ebay business but the market seems flooded on most products. I get a lot of CV views from using monster.co.uk even some direct communication but I think they haven't read my CV properly or I am not explaining myself well enough..
I've also looked at a few online businesses but most look like scams, I am currently looking at pclink.co.uk anyone know anything about them? I am not looking for a large income as my life in Thailand is much simpler than the UK and the cost of living is lower, I can survive on about 350GBP per month but if I could earn between 450 and 500 I would be quite happy.
Any help appreciated.0 -

Try looking at online newspapers e.g. Times Online - they have various jobs listed. You could also register your CV with Monsterjobs.co.uk and can explain that you are currently working in Thailand and that you wish to relocate back to the UK.
It shouldnt matter if you live abroad because I know that companies/universities etc will either pay for you to attend the interview - paying for flights etc or will arrange a telephone conference interview so that you can stay in Thailand whilst being interviewed.
Hope this helps?0 -

Hi Alphason
I am in the exact same situation as you.... and its really getting me down as I can not find anything.
I am English but live in Turkey and all the jobs i have applied for want actual UK residents.
Have you found anything as yet?
If you have or want to discuss anything then private message me it would be great see what you have found etc as you are in the same situation!
Hopefully hear from you soon...

Have you thought about working for yourself? As someone immersed in the local culture you're well placed to offer services to ex-pats and tourists in a multitude of areas!0

Thanks therealdessie, working for myself is a consideration but as a foreigner you are very restricted what businesses you can work in - certainly nothing tourist related unless you have a very specific skill.
I keep looking into various form of Internet marketing and website stuff but its a minefield with loads of scams around!0
