Removing Car Stickers

I have just got my first car, an old banger, and it needs lots of cleaning!

On the back window is a car sticker that has been there FOREVER and is all cracked and yellow and horrible!

What would be the best way to get rid of it? I've only tried with my fingernails so far and didn't get very far!

Also there are some dodgy looking stains on the upholstory, what would be the best way of getting rid of them.

Thanks

ps You can move this to the motoring section if this is in the wrong place!

Try a bit of thinners on a rag, but dont use any knid of blade
or you will scratch the rear de-mister wires (very thin brown strips usually).

Get some upholstery cleaner for stains and the like.

Cheers. I tried WD40. It worked!

Also, hairdryers are good for softening the adhesive before removal.

WD40 is the method of choice for removing stickers from rally cars at the end of the season, without taking the paint with it. It dissolves the gum. Work down from the top, so the WD40 is held in the V between the bodywork and the removed part of the sticker.

I've used a hired carpet cleaner with a small head attachment to get deep stains out of a car. Left the doors open on a warm day to let it dry out afterwards. Worked a treat.
  • Was it a TOG sticker - they are supposed to stick forever!

Try using nail remover, it works wonders on removing all stickers safely.

Just put a small amount on a clean cloth and rub over the sticker, it will then be easy to peel off and will leave no marks!

    Hi all

I have a similar problem with stickers on my new bathroom units. Can I use WD40 on the ceramic bit of the toilet and sink?

    Thanks!

Yes you can-there's nothing in it which will harm ceramics :)
