Hi All,
I went to the Southport Flower Show last week and on one of the stalls in the Rural Crafts Tent was a guy showing how to make fabulous decorations out of florists ribbon. They were called Personal Touch. I've done a search on the internet and nothing is coming up about them. He was selling a video and some rolls of ribbon for £20, but me, being a real tightwad thought £20 was a bit too much and I may be able to find it cheaper, no luck though - humph!!
Wondered if anyone else had come across this video or even if anyone had a copy I could buy from them perhaps. The bows were really fab. I always like to dress up a present, sometimes some of my xmas presents looked better when they were wrapped up !!
Thanks

Sorry, can't help with your request but on a similar theme, I went to Ikea today and noticed that they have brown paper wrapping paper (if that makes sense) at 70p for ten metres. I think that's really cheap and with some ribbony type thing around the pressie it could look quite trendy! It will do for children's pressies anyway.0

I have seen the same demonstration at the Knitting and Stitching show in Harrogate. He must be one of these people who do the rounds of the shows. He is probably on QVC as well, many of them are...
I know what you mean though, £20 is a bit steep for some ribbon and a video.
Sorry I can't really help. Good luck.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I haven't seen what you mean, but I guess it's some kind of gadget for tying bows ...?
Google has some suggestions on tying bows, like this one

Thanks for that debt free chick! That's a really helpful site. Mind you the bows this guy made were particularly spectacular. he kind of split the ribbon tied it and when you pulled the end it went into a spiralled rosette kind of thingy !!
They looked really fab.0 -
I'm sure you know but one of the most basic ways to make a nice bow with florist's ribbon is to pull it taut and then run the sharp edge of the scissors along it. It then curls up and looks pretty!0

I never buy present ribbon on rolls any more, I go to the haberdashery stall on the market and get some of their stuff. They have feathery type ribbon, foil types, cutouts, edging ones, metallics, elasticated stuff with tiny ribbons attached, the list is endless really. I've even used lace, which looked very nice on brown paper. They quite often sell offcuts of a yard or so cheaply too.37 mrstwins squares, 6 little bags, 16 RWB squares, 1 ladies cardi, 4 boobs, 20 baby hats, 4 xmas stockings, 1 scarf, 4 prs wristwarmers0

Hi
I bought a few realms of ribbon from ebay a year or so (got 6 huge rolld for £8 inc postage)
I am rubbish at wrapping pressies and bows and stuff. Using my hands some days can be quite difficult, but my OH on the other hand is abit more artistic than me and more patient
I would love to learn to do all the pretty packaging and bows etc, so Im very interested in this thread. Maybe they have a guide for people who cant use their hands...lol....maybe tie ribbons with their mouth.....lol

When you say he pulled the ribbon up, do you mean it looked like the pull bows on this page: http://www.rainbowfloristsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Ribbons_Poly.html ?
If so, you can probably get cheaper versions of this if you search for florists' supplies on google - I just chose the first website which showed what I think you meant!
I bought some of these years ago (can't remember where from - sorry!) from an ad in a magazine and they do look pretty spectacular - and all the work is done for you!
Hope this helps.0 -
cheap rolls of wall lining paper makes nice gift wrapping then add coloured ribbons Or rubber stamp or stencil on brown or plain paper for wrapping.
Ends of range wallpapers (usually sold cheaply) look good too if the right pattern is used.
Cut a piece of the wrapping paper and fold for the gift tag.. Looks good and matches.0 -

Just looked at these but that's not the same. What he did was, he took a long length of florists ribbon made a few cuts and splits etc, turn and twisted it and when you pulled it all the splits fanned out and left you with a round kind of pom pom thing that looked like a flower.0
