If you use their own credit card you get points and they send you vouchers every now and then. has to be a Partnership card not the old account card they've had for years. you can also scan your own shopping if you have one of their cards (you don't have to use it to pay) and it is a great system - saves a lot of time at the checkout and it works - unlike sainsbury's version
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I recently e-mailed Waitrose to ask what their policy is regarding coupons - here is the reply I got:

    "Thank you for your e-mail.

We do accept coupons for items that have not been purchased but we do need to stock them in the branch where you are shopping.

There is no limit as to how many we accept." :)

I certainly find their credit card great. Depending on how much you use it of course. But for the last quarter I got £25 in Waitrose/John Lewis vouchers. I do shop there every week though and use it as my main credit card.

the quick check is great espically at either a busy saturday when all you need is a couple of items shop done in 35 seconds

and at christmas when everyone spends half a day in the shop you can get all the food in about 30 mins, if you push the old grannies out of the way :-)

There creditcard is not to bad, it is about the same as everywhere else. unless they have cahnged it since I was trying to sell it to customers:
you get 1 point per pound spent inside john lewis and 1 point for every 2 pounds spen outside john lewis. then 3 or 4 times a year they send you vouchers if you have enough points. min £5

and you can use the vouchers either in store or on their website

I've seen their quick check out system and would be great but it's not in the 2 Waitrose's near me.

The staff in my local one had no idea what I was talking about when I asked someone.

The Partnership card gives you 1% cashback in JL or Waitrose purchases and 0.05% elsewhere which is not bad at all; my favourite thing is that you can pick up Waitrose Food Illustrated in Waitrose for free (not if you see it in WHS or somewhere!) if you have a Partnership Card (also used to work with the account card but the credit card is better because of the cashback). I wouldn't buy the magazine if I didn't have the card but that's just because I don't buy mags much; it is a good magazine though.

    thanks all so much!!
  • Thanks for the tip about the magazine and the shorter check-out queue.

I've been comparing rates with the best cashback card - Terrance Conran.
It looks as though Partnership Card is as slightly better when you're shopping at Waitrose or John Lewis anyway. You get 1% cashback guarenteed in vouchers, where Terance Conran customers get about 1% depending on profit, but in cash. Also, if you like the idea of a staff co-op that treats its suppliers better than the other supermarkets, if you live near a Waitrose, or if, like me, you are being turned-down by card companies after applying for too many and might be able to reserect an old Waitrose account.

Waitrose don't do loss-leader ranges like the other supermarkets, though, so it's still worth a trip to Tesco now and then to get your blue-and-white-stripe stuff.

Waitrose does pretty good bogofs and three for twos. I like the fact that their staff are treated as co-owners (and threfore have a vested interest in providing good service) and the way they choose their suppliers carefully. I often find them cheaper than Somerfield or Sainsburys for some items (I don't have a Tesco nearby and only go to Sainsburys as a last resort). Their staff are well-trained and friendly. Their response to e-mails is brilliant. Their internet shopping service is great. Personally I'd rather pay a bit more for quality and service and shorter queues but that's just my opinion. ;)

I have a John Lewis account and an added bonus is the mail shots you get every now and again - normally for make up and skin cream. They usually involve going to the counter and picking up freebies! Got one for Lancome foundation the other day. You also get invites to the Xmas shows (good fun, and free cheese / wine type food), account holder only Xmas shopping nights etc.
