Shoe Storage

Options
I have all mine stacked up in an old bookcase, but i really want something better, as i have to root to get to the ones i want, and ones at the bottom are getting squished out of shape, and they get dusty quick. Also the bookcase is past its best.
Has anyone any ideas what i can use, that is cheap and cheerful?

Thanks.

i would also like to find a good shoe storage solution.

OH has huge feet and mine arent particularly dainty and we have found his big boots and things wont fit on standard shoe rack shelves.

I also have lots of pairs of knee length boots that are very rigid and wont bend to be stored, which means they take up sooo much space..... boots like THESE
oh how i love my red shiny shoes

160 - if you have old shoe boxes, or could find some, then use them and stack them neatly somewhere. or even back int he bookcase. Take a picture of the shoes and put this on the front of the shoe box. A digital camera or a polaroid works well - otherwise just draw a picture. This mean you can quickly identify which shoes are in which box.

I was just wondering if 160 has some space in a (wardrobe or cabinet) closet. You could improvise and buy some cheap plastic pipe (1/2" diameter?)and fix it horizontally inside the closet.

What I mean is to fix the pipe like the clothes rail you hang coat hangers on, but you put two rows of pipe across the closet space.

So (working from the floor/bottom up) you would fix one length of pipe at the front of the closet and the second length of pipe to the rear of the closet around 4" higher up. The shoes/sandals would sit on the racking/shelf you've just created.

Repeat to create more racking/shelves.......but be careful to leave enough space to fit pairs of shoes between each set racking..........use a pair of shoes to get the spacing/gap right.

If I was clever enough to post a picture here, it would help to describe what I mean.........did I make sense?
