Why does this obvious tip work?

Why does "folding the washing straight from the washer and leaving it for an hour before hanging it on the line, will reduce the creases" work? And it does work because I tried it today!! Is it something to do with giving the fibres time to relax before they dry?

Your giving it a chance to get into the shape it should be in, and will be in after ironing as opposed to hanging them out all scrunched up.
I know my shirts still have faint lines down the shoulders from ironing the crease into them, even after washing, so if you fold it like that, crease to crease your promoting it to go back into that shape.
Does that make sense? :confused0 -
Ooh, that was my tip
Never actually thought about why it works! The weight of the washing above does some of the work I think, I always try to put things like jeans at the bottom of the pile The stuff on top stays slightly more creased.
How nice that someone tried it and found it worked :j0
