Storing supermarket cucumbers - question

I've often wondered whether I should remove the cling-wrap from a cucumber before putting it in the fridge, when I'm not using it straight away.
So far I have always done this, but I wonder whether its purpose is to make it keep fresh a bit longer.
Wondered what everyone else does?

If you're having a straight forward vote - I keep mine on.0

I take mine off, the cucumber will sweat inside the plastic wrap and start to go slimy, I take both coverings off, they are often overwrapped as well. They seem to keep longer in the bottom of the salad drawer this way.

That has never occurred to me, I just leave it on. Perhaps I will try taking it off the next one and see if it makes a difference.
Mind you, my OH changed the temperature on the fridge and froze my last one!0 -
I roll mine down and then take it off completely:eek:Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

always buy the cucumber with the stalk. remove the wrap, cut a tiny piece of the end off the stalk and stand stalk down in a small amount of water, in a glass is ideal. The cucumber then carries on feeding. you cannot do this with the other end, if buying a whole one start cutting at the end without the stalk. .............now watch out all the cucumbers in tescos will stalkless at the end of the day and reduced as you will all try this out!!!!!!!!! you only lose the cut exposed layer and it should last a week in the fridge0

Peel off all the plastic and wrap it in a cloth, an old napkin or dishcloth is ideal. Cukes will keep for at least a week like this.
All my veggies are wrapped up in their "cloots", keeping nice and dry in the veggie drawer. No more alien black goo in the bottom of the fridge.0 -
