BRASS DOOR HANDLES.

not sure they are actually brass, but look like it, and have a ridged detail all down the back of the handle which is dirty. any ideas how to clean them??

    thanks, will have a look at that, and yes, ketchup is for copper i think.

    if its brass, use rubbing compound.
    its a paste that you polish onto the metal. it restores the finish, u can get it from halfords or any diy store i think.

    brass handles usually come with a coating
    and cleaning takes it off
    so once you get them clean again might be worth recoating them

    battery or rechargeable toothbrush with an OLD head on it, then brasso or your other possible vinegary concoctions! Works a treat, did it on similar doorknobs in my place.
    BTW merry xmas and an odd one for my first post after xmas, ive been in Bulgaria ;D

    If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

    hi,apparantly smothering them in tomato ketchup,letting dry then washing off is recommended (think it may have been kim'n'aggie)
