Martin you are very lucky to go to this event! I didn't know you were a athletics fan & a statto too.

As a (decent standard) amateur athlete I have been lucky enough to race against some of our world class performers. If you think they're impressive in the flesh at a dinner, you should try running with them - and I say "with" very loosely! You really don't appreciate just how fast & powerful they are via the TV screen.

As for drinking, I don't know any athletes that don't like the odd drink! The difference is, they'll only do it a couple of times a year rather than every friday & saturday night like a large proportion of people in this country appear to.

I was there too and saw you, Martin. I was going to say hello and thank you for the money you've saved me, but I thought you probably get loads of randoms doing that. But if I'd have known you were an athletics statto, I'd have definitely had a long chat with you! (I work for Athletics Weekly, by the way).
