13 October
What’s the deal?
Every time you shop at a Scottish Sainbury’s between 17 0ctober to 7 November 2007, you’ll get a voucher for a flat rate £15 return for anywhere in Scotland with FirstScot Rail. There’s no minimum spend to grab the voucher, so even a pack of chewing gum counts. You also get a free child place with each ticket purchased.
How to grab a voucher
Simply buy something in a Scottish Sainsbury’s and ask for one of the special First ScotRail vouchers. It’s a good idea to print off a copy of the First ScotRail T&Cs, so the Sainsbury’s staff will know what you’re talking about.
How to get a £15 ticket
Then buy your rail ticket from a First ScotRail station, online or via Telesales on 08457 55 00 33. The journey must be with First ScotRail, starting and finishing at stations in Scotland. Travel is valid between 17 October 2007 and 31 January 2008 inclusive, excluding travel between 19 December 2007 and 10 January 2008.

Sainsbury needs to tell their staff what's happening.
I was in Straiton (edinburgh) store on Saturday, and not seeing any posters asked at check out if they knew about it starting on 17th. "Not in this store" I was told. I hope this isn't normal checkout response.
Make sure you ask for vouchers when you shop!0 -
Hi,
does anybody know if these are being dished out yet, don't have a local Sainsbury's, so can't check myself.
Thanks0 -
Hi
I was in Sainsburys in Kirkcaldy and although it's not advertised in store, I got the voucher with my change. Went back for a tub of pringles (okay, 2 tubs XXL, buy one get one free) and had to ask this time, but got another one no bother.
We're off to Inverness tomorrow!

Hi,
good for you, enjoy.
Got an e-mail from FirstScotRail, today offering half price rail travel, anywhere, I presume, haven't gone through it yet, only thing is you have to book by Saturday.
I would rather have the flexibility of the vouchers, because I never think too far ahead.
Might manage to get some vouchers, next week.
If you want to try the offer, see if this works for you, you might be asked to register first, though it's only username and password, not any personal information needed.0 -
Apparently you may have to get the £15 voucher from the Customer services desk.
As for the Scotrail half price thing - I got the email too but the link is not working."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Hi,
just tried it again, seems something wrong with site, good job we're not stuck on one of the trains, your post was 3.44pm, and now it's 6.05pm, and nothing moving. :rotfl:0 -
Just back from our day in Inverness - the voucher entitles you to buy up to TWO £15 return tickets with free child for each ticket bought. :T0
