If you burn something and set off the smoke detectors, vinegar soaked onto a towel and twirled around a room will quickly stop the smoke detectors from screaming. It also freshens the air, and captures the smoke smell before the whole house is is invaded

i have vinegar in a spray bottle with some water, and just spray it in the air, works well.0

I am always having to twirl a t-towel round to stop the smoke detector so I will give the vinegar soaking a go, on a clean t-towel of course0

put it on a dirty one, will prob clean it anyway. ;D
I get the idea of it taking away the smell but if it's soaked in vinegar I certainly wouldn't want vinegar splashed all over my newly painted walls..................so I'll stick to the spray bottle ....................much easier to direct
And waft the smoke alarm with a cushion to stop it ::)0 -
you need one with a mist spray, or else everything gets soaked.
if you mix small amount of fabric softner with water in one, works but like febreeze.0
