I know this is a strange question.
But since moving in to our new house we have not cooked savoury rice. We are use to cooking it on a electric hob.
Husband has decided to cook rice for his tea and I am rather stumped.
Many thanks in advance.

To steam - put rice in pot with water equiv to approx. double that of rice. Boil covered on a high heat for about a min and then low heat till cooked.
To boil - put rice in with more water than when steaming and just cook uncovered till rice is puffy and drain through colander. Cooking time will vary according to quantity you're cooking.0 -
Thanks that does not 100 % answer my question.
We do know how to cook rice but are use to doing it on a electric hob by bringing to the boil and cook for a further few mins and then turning off and leaving for 20 mins and then it is cooked.
Are there any tips like that for gas hobs.

I've cooked rice on both electric and gas hobs, right now, I have a gas one. It's much simplier and way faster with gas. Basmati rice comes out perfect in about 10 mins (for 2 people) on a gas hob, no waiting around, or messing about. You can dip into cooked rice as you turn off the flame.0

use one measure of rice and one and a half measure of boiling water, put both in the pan and stir, put on the lid, bring to boil on a high gas then turn down to minimum gas for about twenty mins. Perfect.0
